The one drawback I do miss is now the release date doesn't match the first Avengers, which made it feel more special. But hey, earlier the better!

Yeah feels like barely 15 days ago or so. Everyone at my college was getting hyped about the trailer that day. We were in high school when Iron Man released and now IW releases a month after our college finals. The 20-25 age group grew up with this franchise.

That’s only 8 years if you were HS freshmen? The movies were released over a span of 10 years...

You have months and months of promoting a movie as a May 4th release and then one day you suddenly change it. There's bound to be some confusion from some people now. How much will that effect the opening weekend numbers? Who knows...
So what... opening weekend will do gangbusters AND THEN two weeks later the ones who didn’t hear about the date change will make week 3 do gangbusters too.

There will be a new box office opening king after Infinity War takes the crown from Force Awakens.

Oh we count high school from grade 7-8 here. It was 2008 for my batch which is when Iron Man released.

Now i have a dilemma. I usually wait a week or so for the crowds to die down in the cinema but then i risk spoilers. It's getting tougher to avoid them in this day and age.

So go to the midnight showing some places open all their theaters for a movie like IW.

My theater did it for the first Avengers movie, opened all 7 theaters.

Yeah or just go dead early or late, you avoid peak times you tend to avoid all the families and teenagers and really just have the fans who want to see it.

I remember opening night when Star Wars Episode I came out, the AMC 30 near me kept adding screens for the midnight premiere as they sold out. By the time it started it was showing on 28 of their screens.

Now that's not too hard to do. But I don't see how it could've happened back then, it means they would've needed to ship a ton of extra prints just for the premiere showings (the DCP of Episode 1 wasn't added until a few weeks into the run and was very limited, my brother actually drove us to another state as it was the only way to see it, and we were curious to compare as just second DCP we'd seen and first time to compare film and digital projection).

Though Avengers 1 opened actually at midnight, since it was a few months before what happened with TDKR. Almost all theaters will be showing Infinity War starting at 7, which is now the standard time.
