Gamora is pretty serious most of the time but I agree. Particularly in a film that will be lacking in action, the GoTG need to add levity and fun moments. I will love this movie even if it's mostly fluff and would be surprised if it's much else.

I think I’ll love it too... I hope they do include levity, but I just hope they keep it in check. I don’t like my heroes changed to funny buffoons... That’s the image I have of Thor now. I wouldn’t have a problem having Ragnarok and GotG2 as one-offs and not even referring to them at all...

Agree to disagree, consider volume 2 to be one of the best Marvel films to date.

Definitely agree with you on agreeing to disagree. Vol.2 was a disappointment in my eyes.

There so much character and story to GotGV2. It's so much more than a comedy. The first one was about loss and friends becoming family. Vol 2 is more about parents and the roles they play in who their children become through their influence either good or bad or by their absence entirely.

I think we actually agree to a degree. I enjoyed T:R and GotG2. But my point is simply how will those movies mesh (in tone) with the rest of the MCU and specifically with this new Avengers story-line, which based on the trailer has a darker tone... I’m just curious how Marvel handles it, especially since it seems the opposite direction compared to DC...

All these characters can move in and out of serious or comedy.

Its not a lock.

The previous two comedies arent going to jepardize the Infinity Wars.

Plus both Guardians and Thor: Ragnarok were directed by people who put a comedy edge on all their work.

You still have Black Panther before IW and that looks to be serious.

Vol.2 had a very good premise, and the Kurt Russell character was absolutely wonderful, but the last third of the movie was a bit terrible and the final fight was badly directed.

I felt like they underused Kurt Russell. Everything in the film but Yondu felt underused.

I doubt that will happen, you can see by the end of the trailer with GOTG giving an awkward smile, this will have some humor. Loki will also deliver. the first 2 Avengers were humorous at times even though they dealt with deaths. They were both very balanced. And While any of the Cap films weren't as comical, there was definitely a lighter tone than your usual spy/soldier film.

This will most likely be the most serious of the Marvel films.

The GOTG will likely act as the film's primary comic relief (at least having a higher joke-serious dialogue ratio than most other characters), and Hulk's characterization will likely be closer to Ragnarok's interpretation. But that doesn't mean that the entire film will be a comedy. After all, Hulk and the GOTG only make up a few of the characters featured in the film. Other characters like Cap and Black Panther are a lot more serious, and even the GOTG and Hulk have serious moments. And consider that we have Black Panther in-between Ragnarok and Infinity War, which also appears to be more serious than the last two MCU films. I think the approach they're going for is that certain films will be more comedic in tone, and others will be more serious. Ragnarok and GOTG2 were comedic, Black Panther and Infinity War are serious.

I'm very happy for everyone that seemed to love the trailer, but I thought it was underwhelming. (Before I go on, I thought Thor: Ragnorak had a phenomenal trailer.) For the first 30 seconds or so before the Marvel logo appeared, I thought they were showing clips from prior movies. There was nothing that really differentiated this movie from the rest of the MCU. I didn't feel like anyone's life was in danger. Usually MCU trailers have a great song that flows with the trailer, but this one did not. As for the buildup of all of the MCU movies to finally reveal Thanos in a movie, how in the world did everyone involved come up with that look? It's almost as if a sketch artist made Thanos out of clay, but the CGI department forgot to actually make enhancements to the final artwork. He is laughably bad.
