Id say after Spider-Man, most folks can identify The Hulk without seeing his films, tv shows, video games and cartoons.

Superheroes didnt start with the film industry’s versions no matter how many tickets were sold. Presence in one form of media doesn’t necessarily set the bar for recognition.

I doubt much has changed here except for Avengers probably in 3rd behind the Bat.

Cyberpunk brought up how after the success of 2008's Iron Man, Marvel rebranded their marketing with placing Iron Man front and center while other recognizable/popular Marvel characters before Iron Man's film release such as Captain America and Spider-Man were pushed into the background.
