That didn't work out for DC with Wonder Woman. Frankly, the avengers brand is strong enough that it'll do fine. They don't need to market Black Panther for it to be huge.

Records are made to be broken. It'll absolutely happen, and it's ridiculously short sighted to think it won't. It may not be soon, but it will absolutely happen some day.

Depending on its marketing, I could see Cameron beating that wtth Avatar 2. Especially now that Disney owns Fox they'll want to give that one as much exposure as possible.

I was wondering where would be best to watch infinity war at since it will be the first filmed in imax cameras, would it be better to watch it on imax 1570/laser or 2d or rpx ? Im talking about in terms of image quality, i know imax 2d dont have recliners so thats a loss right there

I don't know if there's really any demand for Avatar 2 to justify a massive opening weekend like that. If it's great, I still see it opening similar to the first film.

Oh, I think Avatar 2 will open better than the first film (which made only about 10% of its total on opening weekend), I just would be surprised if it gets near the final.

Also I expect Infinity War to open very big, but not Force Awakens (the first true sequel in the franchise in over 30 years was a special event) level, and do think it's possible it ends up #3 domestic total in the MCU behind Avengers and Black Panther as again those feel more like defining event films.

But Infinity War is the culmination of the entire MCU. It has all led to this, I'd say it's just as much of a defining event as Avengers 1 and Black Panther. In fact, I'd say it's even more so.

I don't know anyone that even cares about another Avatar film. It also banked on the 3D fad, which has mostly passed.

And what will be the plot? Dances With Wolves never made a sequel he could steal the plot from.
