I’d be very tempted by a MCU marathon, whatever form it would take. It’s been a while since I’ve been able to go to a movie marathon, and I’ve missed doing them.

AMC gave us a nice double-sided medal for the Captain America Marathon they had leading up to Civil War’s release. So it’s entirely possible that they’d do something similar.

Just a heads up for anyone that does go to the marathon, it'll be a sausage fest in there. Don't expect to find your future wife there. I can't imagine any women devoting an entire day sitting in a dark theater with loads of smelly men around them...

Who cares about the gender makeup of the audience?
Do people go to any movie expecting to meet someone? If so, that's even sadder than the "smelly" guys you are mocking.

Uh... yeah... most people don't go to a movie theater to meet women dude. They go to watch movies.

I like both films ( despite the consensus) but at least the action in Origins is very good.

It's strange looking at this, because almost ten years later, the CGI in Black Panther isn't all that different/better.

I'm still trying to figure out what the hell happened with that, when Thor: Ragnarok looked so great.

I know women who went to the Lord of the Rings, Captain America, and Avengers marathons.

I watched Black Panther again over the weekend, the CG looked much worse than it did on first viewing. Then today, I saw Thor: Ragnarok and holy shit, the visuals looked even better in comparison.

Honestly I think the issue with BP's lack of high quality CGI work had to have been due to a rushed production. Or perhaps a different effects team worked on it than the team that did Ragnarok's?

People on Reddit brought up good points. Watching 31 hours of Marvel and the theater will smell awful.

Example from one:
Quote:
Hell, even for the first avengers where they just did iron man 1 through captain America that theater was FOUL. I can still remember it vividly to this day. We made it about two movies before we bailed to go eat real human food and see the sun again before going back in for two more and when that theater door opened after we'd been out in the fresh air....holy shit. Just imagine the few guys you see at every comic book movie; the unwashed greasy hair, graphic t-shirt stretched to busting on their gut, the never ending back and forth referencing of obscure comic panels etc. Now extrapolate that to where it's a few hundred of them and all they've eaten for 12 hours is stale popcorn, bottomless soda, candy, and whatever passes as "food" from the the concession stand. There were so many painful wet farts taking place in that theater that I don't doubt they had to swap the seats after the showing. People taking their shoes off, people laying down in the side aisles. The dregs of humanity at their worst surrounded by their enabling or indifferent peers. Never again.

I've heard people try use Coogler's inexperience with CG effects as a reason, but Waititi's experience isn't that much more extensive either.

If anything, I'd expect Coogler to rely more on realistic fight choreography, given his experience on Creed.

But yeah, there must have been some limitations put on BP's sfx budget compared to TR's, or Waititi just had a better team working with him in that department than Coogler did.

The Incredible Hulk had better CGI because Marvel Studios had plenty of time to develop it before the big team up movies. Where as Black Panther, they can't afford to delay it. Otherwise, it chronically wouldn't make sense if Black Panther came out after Infinity War.

The CGI at the final fight was weak. Noticed it straight away when I watched it. That and the fight itself were the only problems I had with the film (oh, and the first action scene).

The foreground characters, effects, etc look great in Ragnarok. The problem is, the entire movie looked like people obviously standing in front of a greenscreen. The background CGI looked good too, but the blending with the backgrounds was horribly done. It looked like something that would have been done 20+ years ago. Black Panther had the same problem, though not to the same extent.

The HDR on the 4k version of Ragnarok makes the poor blending and CG especially stand out. It's so weird how much Care Blanchett is fully CG, fighting Chris Hemsworth, who is actually there.

The part in Norway in the beginning is where this is most noticeable. I know they changed it last minute, but god it was horribly done.

I love the Jack Kirby inspired sets and costumes of Thor: Ragnarok.

When Thanos is equipped with all 6 Infinity Stones on his Infinity Gauntlet, is Thanos then the most powerful comic book villain ever? I mean, how could anyone be more powerful than that?
