Is it a good poster though? It’s just the standard photoshopped-to-hell poster they’ve always had.

I would bet Dinklage is playing

That's the problem with a lot of lounge seat renovations. It reduces the number of seats by half to two thirds and in many cases, there's only a few ideal seats at best, especially if there's a center aisle, in which case there may be no ideal seats.

Even from the perspective of the business of running a movie theater, this is insane. Every time they sell out a show because of the reduced seat count, they're leaving money on the table.

Between closings and lounge seats, NYC has lost 56% of its movie seats in the last 30 years. We've lost over 100,000 seats. I know theater owners believe lounge seating drives business, but I know I go to the movies far less because I can't stand these theaters with 40-100 seats knowing there's a good chance there won't be one decent seat left. A new Landmark opened in NYC some months back in which their smallest screens have 19, 22, 25 and 34 seats. WTF were they thinking? If so few people attend theaters, why did they even bother opening?

I get that (Rhodes is the worst offender), but the hype and all the characters made me like it. Not perfect, of course.

interestingly enough, I think the part where Thanos appears to be crushing Thors skull, perhaps it's not so much physical pain he is screaming from, perhaps he is seeing Asgardians being killed by Thanos and his people and has been beaten enough that he is at that time powerless to do anything about it.

perhaps he is seeing Loki be killed by Thanos, even after Loki gives him the Stone.

I don't think that all of the Asgardians get killed, I think, a lot of them do. I think a bunch of them get away and I think they will end up on earth, to the place Odin was when he died. remember Odin saying, "this (place) could be Asgard"

It can easily be both. Yes
[Show spoiler]time appears to be involved, as well as possibly other things like alternate realities, but even if it jumps around
, it will also pick up where this film leaves off. I still think this film is going to end with
[Show spoiler]"the snap".

But I do understand what you're saying.
[Show spoiler]People are assuming that because actors or characters are in Avengers 4, that they don't die in this one. And that is not necessarily the case.

Lounge seating with cup holders and small tray tables ect makes people more likely to buy food and consumables. This is where they make their money. In addition to people feeling like they have a more premium experience due to space and 'chilled outness'.

I guess that's where Thanos and his gang
[Show spoiler] ****ed the Asgardians up after Ragnarok.

Makes sense considering Thanos has telepathic abilities, even though he doesn't use it very often.

I already said that a few pages back and an old report

The local theater here was dead until they renovated with recliners. The old ass seats were sticky and broken. Now the place sells out all the time.

I think you're right about this assumption, good thinking.

Seeing as so many Asgardians are likely to be dying in this film and probably some additional character death, I hope we actually get blood to some extent in the movie. In Ragnarok Thor had his eye slashed out and there was no blood except for his eye socket, someone literally got their throat slit in Black Panther with 0 blood to be seen. I'm not asking for Logan levels of gore and blood but at least some.

Regular seats have had cup holders for decades, so lounge seating isn't needed for that. I went to an Alamo Drafthouse and they kept the lights that are under each table on during the film which annoyed the hell out of me. That was a shame because the atmosphere and quality of the projection was quite good. But I won't go back because movies have to be seen in the dark. At the very least, the lights should be off at empty seats and one should have the option of turning them off at your own seat.

As for concessions, that's where they make the biggest margin, but it's still not the biggest dollars. In 2017, for AMC, which is the largest U.S. chain, admissions were $3.3 billion and concessions were $1.55 billion (those are world-wide revenue numbers). But when gross margin is considered, they're a lot closer, since movie tickets had a 50.3% margin and concessions had an 84% margin: tickets gross margin was $1.6 billion and concessions gross margin was $1.3 billion. Frankly, I'm surprised that the concession margin wasn't even higher, since they're selling about 30 cents worth of soda or popcorn for $6 or even more. (And by the way, even with those huge numbers, AMC still managed to lose $487 million).

Personally, smelling someone else's garbage food, like fake melted cheese over chips isn't a premium experience, IMO. A premium experience is a luxurious atmosphere surrounded by intelligent, well-dressed people. When I was a kid and went to some reserved-seat roadshow movies, EVERYONE was dressed up. I don't know if they even would have let someone in dressed in shorts or jeans and sneakers.

The trailer was awesome but it was seriously lacking Nebula. She has to play a significant part in Thanos’ story and inevitable defeat. Gamora is getting all the attention.
