I beg to differ. You are almost forced to watch 3D when the money hungry studios are telling theaters that they need twice as many 3D showtimes as 2D. The 2D sells out faster. That’s a fact. I worked at a theater and I’ve seen it happen. I’ve seen memos from studios asking for more 3D showtimes for more money.

I’m not trying to have the same old 3D vs 2D argument. I could argue all day that 3D is just a gimmick to get more money per ticket. My argument is that the studios act like this movie wouldn’t sell a single ticket if it was only available in 2D. Obviously the showtimes would sell out regardless of whether they were 2D or 3D. The 2D just sells out quicker. That’s why, yesterday evening, after the tickets had been on sale all day, there were still plenty of open 3D seats (in ALL my local theaters) but almost every single 2D showtime was sold out.

So let’s make the Fan Event 3D only (for more money) and let’s have eight 3D show times Thursday night but only two 2D showtimes.

Theaters in my area have of twice or 3 times 2D as many showtimes as 3D. Unless its a disney movie, the theaters here only have 1-3 3D showtimes.

Russo Brothers say that Thor and Thanos have the most screentime in Avengers: Infinity War. They also say that it's mainly Thanos' film as he can be considered the main character since a lot of the film is seen through his perspective.

It’s annoying that the ‘Fan Event’ for this is 3D and that all my local theaters are told to have more 3D showtimes than 2D. I get it, I used to work there, 3D means $3 more per ticket. Higher box office gross. It makes sense from a business stand point, but the 2D showtimes sell out in minutes and all that ends up being left are the 3Ds.
Some movies, such as the first Avengers, Guardians and Doctor Strange are made for 3D an enhanced it.
But most movies do not need to be in 3D.

The ‘fad’ is clearly not over as many others, like myself, would rather keep our 3D set up than have 4K movies at home.

After the first week I tend to see movies half and half with the 2D screenings lasting longest ie saw Black Panther again Thurs and they had 2D only showings.

3D doesn’t feel feed forced here in UK but maybe it’s different in the US

As it should be.
We’ve had enough screen time with every hero but maybe 10mins of Thanos in the entire MCU

Hope whoever did this fixes it. The aspect ratio is wrong, and the edit from Gamora saying "Thanos" to Quill talking about the plan, they kinda step on each other's lines. Other than that, this supercut rocks. If they showed this version in theaters, people would probably go right back to the box office to ask about Avengers tickets.

I think it looks like IMAX aspect ratio.

Thor being in front of this movie kinda worries me. He's boring. The only reason i enjoyed Ragnarok is because great support characters and music, art, etc. But he's not the most exciting thing about the Avengers. Captain, Black Panther, Guardians, Scarlet Witch, Dr Strange should be getting that spotlight.

Memphis is the exact opposite of what you've described here. Only a few theaters in the area schedule 3D showings anymore, and often only one screening per day. Just looking at the schedule for today, Black Panther has four 3D shows on one screen at one theater, Wrinkle in Time has a total of three 3D shows at two other theaters. So out of about 800 screenings daily, 3D fans here have a total of 2 movies with 7 showtimes. I wish we had the 3D overkill you describe below...

That’s the thing. After the movie has been out for a week or two or three, the 3D showtimes dwindle down. However, opening weekend/week is always PACKED with 3D showtimes. Once again, for the money/numbers. They want big record breaking weekends, and an extra $3 a ticket certainly helps that cause.

Will any of the actors be returning in their roles in future movies? I know there is supposed to be another Avengers movie later, but I'm guessing it might be mostly a new group of Avengers.
