Isn't that a cop out, though? It's like what I said a few days ago, anyone can use the infinity gauntlet. It's not exclusive to Thanos. Black Panther, Mr. Fantastic, Nebula, Santa Clause (no joke), Spider-Man, etc, have all used the infinity gauntlet before. So would you say that those are the most powerful characters in the Marvel universe? Pretty sure you will say no. By the way, there is no preference here. Phoenix beat Thanos once before. That's factual.

Thanos is still pretty strong. Honestly, he doesn't even need the infinity gauntlet to beat The Avengers nor cause all this damage. The infinity stones are just a macGuffin really.

In the book i recall he beats himself.
But they’re not translating the book so youll just have to see how it ends up.

Thanos was dying in his new series, and was nearly depowered. His son Thane was the host of the phoenix, and just wanted to humiliate him.

The rematch in issue 11 went a bit different.

It's all fictional and anyone can beat anyone else, all it takes is for someone to write it.

It's only natural for the comics to come up in a comic book movie thread, but you constantly take the thread so far away from the movie that it's ridiculous. The movies aren't going to be like the comics for so many reasons. Stop nitpicking and just enjoy one of the biggest entries into one of the most successful movie franchises we have.

Thanos without the gauntlet can go toe to toe with the Phoenix depending on the host. Jean or Rachel he goes down. Anyone else he will win.
