Not following everything from the comics for an event film like this is actually a good idea. The comic had way too many characters that would have made the film somewhat overcrowded.

Brand recognition/audience identification. Whatever the opinion of the previous portrayal (and movie for that matter) the Surfer is more recognisable to the great unwashed than Adam Warlock.

I think you're on the right track here. Like maybe using Warlock in IW was the backup plan, but now they've got the other guy & can save him for Guardians.

After doing some further research into this. It seems like its probably fake news.

I went to the Metacritic page and looked at the full cast. At the bottom it says "movie title data, credits, and poster art provided by IMDb."

Now as we all know, IMDb can be edited. And if you look at the credits list on IMDb, he's not listed on there. So I'm guessing they later corrected the fake news. Oh and for the record the Metacritic cast list also includes Yondu. So....?

Who knows though?

I may have to stop visiting which is a shame because the film is still a month away and who doesn't like a bit of hype?

Agreed. I mean, IW already is jammed packed. I can't imagine how it would be if it tried to mirror the comic.

This is why people stop visiting sites like Reddit and this section of the site as a whole until after the movie has been released. If you aren't up to date on the previous films then you probably shouldn't be in there.

Some people are avoiding the trailers. And will not see the lego sets in stores.

I don't like the idea of Adam Warlock being in a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. I fear they might make either too jokey, or just another throwaway Marvel villain (even though Adam Warlock is not a villain, but I think you know what I mean). Adam Warlock played a huge role in the Infinity storylines, so just to see him wasted like that would be a shame. Besides, I believe James Gunn confirmed that Adam Warlock may not appear in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after all.
