Avengers: Infinity War writers were allowed by Marvel to kill off any superheroes they wanted

Quote:
The upcoming two Avengers movies round off a big phase of Marvel, and on top of that, it seems Marvel has gone full Game of Thrones and given the Infinity War writers free reign on who to kill off.
"Marvel allowed us big swings," co-writer Stephen McFeely clarified. "So there wasn't a mandate that everything had to get tied up in a neat bow so that they could continue with another one and another one.

"These movies are the most successful when the characters undergo big changes and in certain cases when some are escorted off the stage."

Well how much of a galactic threat can Thanos really be if none of our heroes bite the big one?

What are the chances of Thor dying? With Chris Hemsworth joining the MIB reboot I wonder what that means for the MCU. It would seem crazy to kill off all of Asgard, possibly Loki and then Thor too.

They were allowed to kill off anybody they wanted, because death doesn't have to be a permanent thing in movies. You can always bring somebody back in future films wether it's by going back in time, making spin off films, or prequel films.

Hope this means they won't p*ssy out and pull the same shit that happened in Civil War.

I want BIG name deaths. Not second or third rate characters.

Has the only hero death so far been Quick Silver? (not counting others like Odin, etc.)

I suppose they could kill Captain Marvel since her movie is a prequel and releasing before Avengers 4. Similarly, there is only the Homecoming sequel left on the Sony deal, so tiny chance with Spidey, but I really doubt that as well.

The safest obviously is Black Panther, even if they were gonna kill, I bet Disney would now demand they reshoot that.

Though I think it is Vision and another secondary hero in Infinity War, and we get maybe a character like Iron Man, Cap, or Hulk dying in Avengers 4.

Thor, Tony, and Cap are the easiest major ones to kill off. Their trilogies are done. There's not much left to do with the characters. And all three actors probably wouldn't mind moving onto other things. Hulk could also be killed since it's doubtful Marvel will ever make another standalone flick with him. And of course there are minor heroes like Hawkeye, War Machine, Vision, and Black Widow who could all easily be dispatched.

There's no way they're killing off Spider-Man or Black Panther though. Those standalone movies are too valuable to Marvel/Disney. Doctor Strange is on the bubble, but I'd be surprised if he was offed given how the post-credits scene of his movie seemed to be setting up a sequel.

I'm guessing T'Challa, Gamora and Iron Man will bite it.

Just because they die doesn't mean they can't still make more movies with them. I also think Dr. Strange is safe because he's only had 1 film, but he could get killed and they could still make the sequel.

For all we know, the sequel could take place before the events of Infinity War and Avengers 4. You never know.

I don't really know Strange or Ant-Man so their deaths wouldn't bother me at all.

Iron Man certainly could if they are sure Downey is really done, I think a more supporting Guardians character like Nebula is likely to be killed than Gamora whose relationship with Star Lord Gunn seems to want to explore more, and the first is literally the one character I feel fully comfortable saying is safe.

I'd be okay if Ant-Man, Iron Man and Black Widow die tbh, maybe even Nebula, War Machine and Drax
