We have a collector who's a regular at the theater. He said back in the day it was return or destroy, but nowadays they don't have any rules about it. They do limit small theaters on copies of posters though, so we don't try making a poster shop out of it haha.

Generally though we do take them home. I have a pretty decent official movie poster collection haha.

I remember working at a video store and returned open or damaged merchandise had to be destroyed. So instead of reselling an open (non shrink wrap) Empire Strikes Back script, it had to be tossed. I asked if I could at least have the 8 x 10s in them and that was still a sale process that had to be documented.

A statue is a little different than a cardboard display.

I asked a Target associate about the BB-8 model they had in the toys section to promote The Force Awakens. The multiple answers given were:
-throw it out
-return it back to Disney
-have an employee drawing/giveaway

I would be glad to be wrong if they could do it without taking away from the huge story they are trying to tell.

But the movie opens in 22 days. For them to have even a post credits scene they would have had to secure the right to do so many months ago. I think it is kind of unrealistic.
A4 having such a thing has to be 100% -- barring the deal falling thru.
