I don't think it will be, but I think it's friggin weird that you sold off all your Marvel films just because you were disappointed with AoU, and now with only two new movies and the hype of an upcoming one, you've turned around again.
Yeah, that does seem a bit extreme. I would have thought with what the Russo Brothers did with Winter Soldier & Civil War would be enough to stay hyped for Infinity War.

Can someone confirm, will this movie be a Part 1, Part 2 typa deal or not?
Because I remember there being talks about it being Infinity War Pt.1 and Pt.2, then reading somewhere it wasn't going to be split into 2 movies, but what im getting from this thread is that there will be an Infinity War Pt.2 (but wont be called part 1 + part 2)

I really hope they wrap it up good in this movie, I dont want to be disappointed like The Hunger Games Mockingjay Pt.1 and The Hobbit, where they leave it hanging on a big climax (I know some movies are supposed to be left on cliffhangers) and then waiting a year or 2 for the next movie, im not a fan of that sort of thing tbh

No one really knows but with Avengers 4 coming out a mere 12 months after this one, I think it's safe to say it's a part 1 and part 2 style deal. I firmly believe the film will be satisfactory to watch as a stand alone though, it's just the tie in to the next movie will be stronger than previous movies.

Hmm but aren't there a couple of movies scheduled to be released before Avengers 4, Mr Pants? It'd be like "Hey, lets take a break from the big battle and focus on smaller villains" which would be really underwhelming

There's Ant-Man 2 (set after Civil War) and Captain Marvel (set in the 90s), so both of those are set earlier than Infinity War.

Good lord this is easily the best Iron Man look/suit so far.
He looks absolutely glorious and they have really perfected his CGI over the years.
Incredible.

any article I've read regarding Infinity War has said they filmed #'s 3 & 4 back to back. so I would lean towards #3 taking it so far and #4 next year finishing it off.

My cynical concerns are:

Multiple tones: I wonder how this will come into play over the duration of 2hr 30mins, the impressions from the 20-30mins footage are positive but how will the tonality play out going from A to B and C stories to cover of each of the beats of 40+ characters. Quips are apart of the language of the MCU, levity always gives a sense relief after heavy emotional scenes. It's one of the criticisms of GOTG2 third act I have when the repeated emotional 'moments' (rocket leaving Quill behind) fell awry IMO because it felt repetitive, although Yondu's death was well executed and provided a necessary catharsis.

Whether or not there will be a sense of finality: due to fact that as an audience we know there's a Avengers 4 and other films and the nature of the cinematic universe. Can the audience be satisfied that this film will be able to stand on it's own merits even though it's building upon other films? I'll give the positive example of Boromir's death in Fellowship of the Ring. We by the end of the film saw his character grow from a man only interested in the ring for power to becoming a sympathetic character and having one of the best on-screen deaths in cinema history (in 3 hours) and had some real emotional heft. Russos have an advantage (previously given to episodic tv) that the main players (Tony, Cap & Thor) have been well fleshed out over multiple films so there's no need to make them sympathetic (they already are) it's just the execution of those moments (if and who to which it happens).

I kind of want a cliff hanger...
is that bad? hahah

The next 2 movies are set BEFORE Infinity war right?. So it gives us a whole year to ponder whats going to happen and build hype up ready for A4

Disney basically did this with Star Wars and the hype for the Rian direct one was immense. Only this time, I dont see them making the mistakes they did with that and its divisive direction.

There’s no way that there isn’t a cliff hanger. Unless Thanos is defeated in this one and they all walk away smiling then there is no doubt that this will end on a big, juicy cliffhanger.

thats what Im thinking. I just cannot wait.

I am expecting to be completely blown away for 2.5 hours. I want this to set a new standard for the genre.

so yes, I have very high expectations. I also have full faith it will deliver.

a part of me still holds out some hope at an xmen/Galactus/Surfer NOD.
A comment that acknowledges their existence would just be unreal....

Interesting. I like earlier movie times because they’re cheaper and I’m less prone to fall asleep as opposed to nighttime viewings.

They have added times from the 4 original showings when I first got tickets for the 26th.

8:15 pm a smaller theater is wide open.

I see showings with less than 7 seats available the entire day. They have already started doing 11:30pm starts.

Default Rated PG-13

No surprise there but this is the official rating from the MPAA:

Seems like it’ll be more action packed than most MCU films (again, no surprise there, but doesn’t hurt to have it confirmed).

Not that it matters, but it’s getting released right on my birthday .
