I'm hoping the humor lands for me like it did in Ragnarok otherwise I'll be disappointed. I can take certain levels of humor, aside from most of the jokes in GotG vol 2 that were straight cringe.

The Ben and Jerry's joke in the clip with Tony and Strange was okay because it didn't feel overly forced, despite not finding it funny personally. As long as we don't have any more Taserface jokes I will survive.

It should be okay. Plus, this has extremely serious scenes, so Marvel is at least not playing around with that aspect.

A lot of the humor in GOTG Vol. 2 fell flat for me, too. (Like the "ripe" running gag, yikes.)

This one isn't as goofy/silly as Ragnarok (I love Ragnarok and its humor).

It's more comparable to how humor was used in Civil War. But this one adds the Guardians, who as I mentioned get a lot of the comedy (namely Drax, then Star-Lord, then Rocket, and Mantis and Groot get a laugh or two).

They also all get their serious moments, especially three of them in particular, so it's not just "oh, these are the funny characters, and that's all they are."

None of the humor ever felt goofy. Most of it's character or dialog based. Not every character makes a crack or gets a joke or a funny line or scene. And there's not any single character who's there just to make jokes.

So while it has laughs, definitely, it is easily Marvel's most mature/darkest/most serious movie. Easy.

PS: ArrestedDevelopment, given your name and avatar, keep your eyes peeled for a certain easter egg you should get a kick out of.

He's a "lighter" character, we'll put it that way. He's one of the more minor characters overall.

Gamora, Star-Lord, and Rocket get the most attention.
I'll stand corrected then.

Oh hell yes! The Russos put in the stair car last time. Let's see what they come up with this time around.

Just spent the last 7 hours making showtimes for the next week. I am tired of starting at a computer screen. We only got 9 prints of the movie!

Got my tickets for the first Thursday showing!

My theatre doesn't do online ticketing so you have to get them in person. They went on sale almost a week ago and when I called a few days ago the girl said there was lots of tickets left. Not sure if anyone knows about it.

I did NOT like this movie.

It wants to be bold and daring, yet the final 6 minutes (maybe hidden from pre-screenings?) establishes exactly why it proves that it is NOT being bold.

No spoilers, but wow.... what a dumb, idiotic writing team that got together to make "big surprises" at the end on THIS one. Any proper forethought could have kept from spoiling their OWN plan for the next Avengers flick.

Also, there were some essential story beats that rang completely untrue to me. With Thanos' plans bringing so much at stake, it was rather convenient when certain people decided to lose their minds at key moments.

Faulty, shoddy writing made this movie lose any sense of danger, or risk, for the Avengers by the time it ended. For me, at least.
I feel as if I was given a big sleight of hand, and have been cheated.

Just finished AGE OF ULTRON, haven't seen it since opening weekend way back when.

The MCU films have varied for me, but the previous 2 Avengers movies are just amazing. Hoping this one is the best of them all.

I've made no secret that I thought Thor 3 was overrated and Blank Panther was super overrated, so reviews from fans don't mean anything to me. I just wanna have fun again, not be bored like with Thor 3 and BP.
But to be fair, I think the characters of Thor and Panther were mostly to blame, as I don't find either very interesting and they are better is small doses.

Gonna try to contain the hype the next 39 hours or so.

Just got back and I had a total blast with it. The end will definitely divide people. For me, whether I’m fully satisfied with what happened or not, is going to depend on what happens in the next movie. Avengers 4 will either bring my rating for this way down or up(or stay the same since I’m currently rating this pretty high with a 4.5/5 anyway).
