[Show spoiler]Red Skull
was CG in IW, wasn't he? Clearly, the voice was
[Show spoiler]Weaving's,
but I got the impression he was a CG creation. Not complaining, it looked excellent. Just curious.

I thought it was another actor impersonating Weaving's' voice. Good job tbh.

It was another actor yes, not Weaving's voice.

Is Weaving no longer on good terms with Marvel? Did he refuse to voice that particular character? Branagh "returned" for that brief voice cameo at the beginning of IW.

He said this back in 2012:

Quote:
I [signed a multi-picture deal] for Captain America. I think the tendency, with those films, would be to probably not bring a villain back. They might for The Avengers, but I didn’t think I’d be in Captain America 2 or 3. I don’t think Red Skull will be there. And it’s not something I would want to do again. I’m glad I did it. I did sign up for a number of pictures and I suppose, contractually, I would be obliged to, if they forced me to, but they wouldn’t want to force someone to do it, if they didn’t want to. I think I’ve done my dash with that sort of film. It was good to do it and try it out, but to be honest, it’s not the sort of film I seek out and really am excited by. As an actor, to do all sorts of different films is great. It stretches you in different ways. But, I increasingly like to go back to what I used to always do, which is to get involved with projects that I really have a personal affiliation with.
They asked him to come back for Infinity War but he declined.

I think it's a scumbag thing to sign something saying you'll commit to multiple things legally to then say "Well, i was just trying it out and they could force me, but they won't want to do that". I actually lost some respect for him on that.

I think actors have to honour their obligation or not do the roles in the first place. Many "small" actors who make their names with a franchise spin off into leading material and get paid a lot more but contractually are still tied to a franchise that pulls rank and they have to be there. X Men for J Law as an example. I think they need to own up to what they sign up for. It's why i respect Chris Evans so much. He has found success in Marvel and done his own things but strikes me as a person who honoured his deals.

I knew right away that it wasn't Weaving because I knew he said he didn't want to return to the role. Still, I loved they continued with this character and was one of the great surprises with IW.

Marquand was very close in voice anyways, so just keep having him do it.

Yes, I loved seeing the character return, especially in that spooky, ethereal form he assumed. I've said it before, but I need another Cap film with RS as the villain. There's definitely a sense of unfinished business between the two.

That dude is incredibly talented at impressions. Look up some of his impressions on youtube if you have a chance. Good choice there.

Ross Marquand (Aaron from The Walking Dead) did so good at impersonating Hugo Weaving, I for sure thought it actually was Weaving

I know! Up until yesterday I assumed it was Weaving. The voice was pitch perfect. Amazing.

When he started talking off-screen I thought "who the hell is that?" because I couldn't place the voice at all, and when he appeared I'm like, "oh, it's Red Skull. shame it doesn't sound anything like Hugo Weaving!"
