If only WB financed the entire movie by themselves.

No huge shocker here, but Warner Bros/Village Roadshow/Bron Studios’ Joker is going to churn a profit on its way to becoming the highest-grossing R-rated movie of all time.

Because it's Sony, not Disney financing the movie.

Quote:
$25 million of Joker's budget was covered by the Toronto-based financing company Creative Wealth Media, while Village Roadshow Pictures and Bron Studios each contributed to 25% of it
So...if the budget for Joker is $55M, WB financed the rest of the 50%.

Which is still considerable but not as much if they financed the whole movie. So if WB is making $230M which is half of what Joker is projected to make in profit, I don't see how that makes what Disney did this year as junk change especially when the Joker is easily the highest grossing and most profitable movie that WB is doing this year while Disney has one 2.8B and four 1B+ releases.

Stupid IMDB purchasing Boxofficemojo, I can't view stuff by Studio by year anymore.

Disney still puts in some percentage into the budget, though.

So are we just going to discredit studios everytime they work with each other? That's ridiculous. Also I was talking about how much Disney makes on Spider-Man films as junk change.

I don't discredit what other Studios are doing. I was just clarifying in this case that WB appears to be only making 50% of the profit of the Joker.

And in terms of Disney making junk change in terms of the Spider-Man franchise, I do agree that's why they had the rift with Sony earlier. However, now they are going to co-finance it for 25% for the 3rd movie.

Watched this last night. Really like how each character had a role to play in this movie. How Thanos took charge of every situation, had a plan and followed his play book, forcing everyone else to play catch up.

Love the frantic pace the movie hits, making you feel what the Avengers are feeling.

I must have watched IW at least half a dozen times already. I wonder with it not being on Netflix instead of Disney+ for the time being but Disney+ eventually getting it, are we not going to get the repeat showings on TBS/TNT, etc.

I might do a double feature of Infinity War and Endgame this week.

I've always found Endgame disappointing. There's good stuff in it, for sure, and it's a fun experience. But, it's more concerned with fan service, than having a coherent narrative. And it's doubly frustrating, because I can see some easy script fixes that would really improve it, like explaining how time travel works, instead of whatever incoherent gobbledygook Banner spouts at one point.

IW, on the other hand, is a top-five movie for me. I love its dark momentum. I am perfectly satisfied with it as a self-contained conclusion to the MCU, with the bad guy winning. If Marvel whiffs it going forward, IW can be my cutoff point.

Take out the crap Banner moments and some humor. And it would be a much stronger film.

Endgame was the weaker of the two. Doubling down on Banner and more crap humor. Sure some bits are overly solid but c'mon, Feige. The people can handle some serious drama if done well. You've got us in your hands. Now really surprised us w/ some hard hitting drama.
