I really don't want the Scarlet Witch to die. She is wayyy more important to the Avengers than the Black Widow is.

I don't think any female superheroes will die. They are still fairly scarce in the MCU.

Maybe one shocking death of a female hero to motivate the heroes -- but that would be it. BW is a good candidate and they could still have her in a solo movie as a flashback.

Mantis, Nebula, Gamora, SW, BW -- soon to be joined by Cap Marv and Wasp. Not enough to spare. And Valkyrie if she comes to Earth to fight with the team.

I dont think folks are hyping him up here. Most of these folks havent read War and Gauntlet.

The Guardians film declared Thanos the "most powerful". I dont have an issue w/ that being he's the end game. There will be a new "most powerful" threat when the New Avengers Phase Whatever continues after the Wars.

No one really died in the source material, so folks hoping for "X" to die cause theyre not relevant enough against Thanos is silly. When he has the Gauntlet, no one is relevant. Not Odin, Galactus, or whomever you wanna bring up.
This Avengers team all factor into story. If your not confronting him directly there are other ways to help especially if the Earth is threatened again.

I don't have a problem with Thanos being the "end game" either. I'm just not a fan of putting all of these other Marvel villains aside to make Thanos the front and center.

So was the alternative?

Ultron didnt have the luxury of being built up in previous films.
He appears, creates a global threat and is defeated.
Loki is is built up in Thor and is defeated in Avengers.
YellowJacket lost in one film.
The Dark Elves lost in Thor 2.
Red Skull lost yet continued to infect Captain America decades later w/ Hydra.
Ronin.....lost.

Thanos is one of the most powerful characters in Marvel comics. What prevents him from simply wiping everything out has always been his constant philosophizing.

Considering the Infinity Gauntlet essentially makes him a God, I don't see the problem with him being hyped up in the movies.

It'd be great to finally get a villian that's a real threat.

Bull! Did HAL 9000, Sentinels and the T-1000 needed to be set up for multiple films in order to be a good villains? No. So there is no excuse for not doing Ultron right. When cartoon Ultron is more menacing than the MCU version, you know you dun f***'d up.

Not going to bother talking about all of the other villains. Because not every villain needs to be like The Joker. But I will say that Marvel needs to do a better job with Baron Zemo, Dormammu, Leader, The Mandarin, and Red-Skull in the future. Baron Mordo already looks like he's going to be a great villain in future Doctor Strange sequels, though.

I hope Thanos doesn't come in and just kill someone easily. I never liked the trope of having a new villain come in and kill an established hero just to prove how much of a threat they are. It just comes across as lazy to me.

Doesn't matter because they all come back to life at the end anyway. Depending how close it will stick to the comics.

The real problem with Thanos, if done right, is that none of the current MCU characters are much of a threat. Though I haven't seen Guardians 2 yet.

I don't see it following Infinity Gauntlet very closely. Sure it might have some scenes, but I expect about as loose an adaptation as Age of Ultron was. I mean, the comic was told from Thanos' point of view and heavily involved his obsession with Death.

Thanos' real threat is himself. That's why I feel Infinity War could end up being anti-climatic. Because Thanos is known for leaving himself open to be defeated.

I think if anyone dies, it will probably be Tony or Steve. If the latter happens, Bucky would probably take up his friend's mantle, and likewise with Rhodey for Stark. I could also see them killing Bruce at some point, since there's no cure revealed as yet for him to be free of the Hulk. But whether its Infinity War or a later entry, I really want the Agents of SHIELD to appear in at least one film. They need to finally reveal Coulson's survival to the Avengers; its way past time on that point.

I don't watch Agents of SHIELD, so Coulson is dead to me. Coulson is not relevant at this point.

I'm totally surprised with all the shit that's been happening in Agents of SHIELD lately, news of Coulson being alive this hasn't come around to the Avengers.

I just realize something. If Thanos does wipe out half of the life in the universe in Infinity War, will it effect what goes on in the Marvel TV shows? Because if they don't acknowledge it, then that's going to be an X-Men-level continuity error. Either that or Thanos will be watered down after all in this movie.

You mean like how no one mentioned the weird goup on earth that destroyed a city and killed tons of people in 2012 from Volume 2? They seem to have forgotten that as well.

I had no problem with Ultron within the context of one film.
Hal and friends were one film....Thanos is being bulit up and Ultron isnt de-powered. He was trying to destroy humanity.
Thanos should be aligning himself Death and the entire existence.
Youve continued to think Ultron was scaled back for the larger Thanos quest. .Thanos is larger than most of the Marvel villians.

Yes he is. Ultron is suppose to be strong enough to go toe to toe with Hulk and Vision, and the Mjolnir should be able to do much damage to him. But In The Avengers: Age of Ultron, Hulk, Vision, and Mjolnir were able to take on Ultron easily.
