I've never seen the Extended Editions, but I'm assuming that those are considered the best cuts of each movie? I don't believe that I've seen any of the three movies since their theatrical run, so when I buy them on Blu-Ray it should be similar to seeing them for the first time

I can't wait ! Iv already preordered mine. And I'm probably gonna buy the extended editions later! I read that he wants to wait for the hobbit movies to come out before he releases the extended ones, so that's a few years, so I'll want th extended by then

I guess I missed that.

Do you know where there is a pic of the flyer?

Well I can't wait for Christmas 2011 to finally see the trilogy in hi-def so I'm definetly double dipping! I will probably give the Theatrical Edition to my mum once the Extended come out!

Their friendship was strained for some time. I think Tolkien was upset that Lewis married a divorced woman. I think they reconciled before they died.

Def buying these. The theatricals are good to let people borrow as I don't normally let the Extended Editions leave my house.

That is alright, you can't wait and you wish to see it soon. I have no problem with that, it's with these comments "they are forcing us to double dip" mentality. The studois are not forcing anyone to double dip. You can either wait or not. If you can't wait cause you need to see the movie as soon as possible, do not blame the studios for your impatience.

Where is this news that the EEs are coming out in 2011, let alone Holiday 2011???

The only info I've read around the interweb is alluding to the EEs hitting around the time that The Hobbit is released (either theatrically or home) but that's not till 2012 at the earliest.

We have no solid information supporting either conclusion. Just wishful thinking and worst case scenarios. No one really knows when the EEs will be out.
