I'm probably one of the few that has never actually seen LOTR, you think it's a safe blind buy? I have $50 futureshop gift card just waiting to be used. I'm enticed to give it a go.

Pre-release day poll buyers about 46%, release day now up to about 66%; interesting.

First Im not searching 100 pages to point them out. There has been alot of people that say you have counterd everyone who likes the movies. Second I'M GOING TO SAY THIS AGAIN HOW CAN YOU JUDGE THE PQ IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIES you have avoided answering this question, why is that

Exactly, thanks. My only point is the general consensus (considering ALL sources, not just this thread) is the PQ on FotR is inconsistent. From what I have read and seen of the comparison shots, this is certainly not ALL due to director intent as far as the intentional soft look........it is obvious to my eyes and IMO that some unneeded tampering has been done.

*sigh*

Everybody pretty much knows that the PQ of FOTR is inconsistent.
What does that say?
Who wants the PQ to be inconsistent?

I usually consider if something is worth buying before I buy it

I have answered that question more than once now..........go back and read the posts if you are that interested as I am not going to repeat myself again.

Also, I have said that of course I will let my eyes be the final judge when I do get around to renting these, but considering the sources who I have come to know and trust through the months/years in relation to MY OWN EXPERIENCES in my HT, ALL of which have reported issues, it is VERY safe to say that I will be disappointed to some degree. As I said though, I will let my eyes be the final judge, cool with you?

FOTR looks great, but it will never and can never look like Transformers or Live Free or Die Hard.
It can if they put it under the same DI that TTT and ROTK was treated with.

That's a point you cannot use.

We all agree that it is inconsistent right?
According to the reviewer of Blu-ray.com it is, according to Diesel who has seen it says it is, Digital Bits gives it a lower PQ rating than the other two, Highdefdigest's review also says it is inconsistent.

So far reliable people says it is inconsistent, if you could choose between a brand new DI which would allow FOTR to be uniform in terms of PQ and be as good as the other two or the one that is available now, which one would you rather want?

Why bother giving it that small bit of endorsement when I'm absolutely certain it won't blow me away? I have been very successful in judging the quality of hundreds of discs in the past without having the real thing in my hands, I have no reason to suspect this will be the exception

Why dont you start a new thread for ONLY people who have seen the blu rays? Then you wont have to deal with those of us with opinions (as educated as they may be) who have not actually seen it?

The other thing I will point out is I dont have to watch this to know that the blu ray has been tampered with as far as DNR which the HDTV vs blu ray shots clearly show to my eyes..........it is obvious. Considering these came from a very reliable source (again from my own experience with these individuals over time), and are backed up by people such as Ken, Dave, Xylon, various posters on this and other forums who have actually seen it, I feel I have every right to comment.
