Check out this trailer for TTT:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ef64F...eature=related

At 1:24, there is a shot of Eomer riding a horse. He almost looks like he is glowing. I don't ever remember seeing this scene in the movies. This has bugged me for years! Any thoughts on what this could be?

How do you feel about this? Around the time the movies were coming out, there were stills from different parts of the story. One was of Gandalf sitting on Shadowfax blocking the entrance to Minas Tirith as the Witch King of Agmar is on a horse wanting to enter the city. That scene WAS in the books, but the finished ROTK, not only did not have the scene, but the story was different at that point.

I think it is in the Extended Edition where Eomer finds Theoden's son attacked by Orks.

The scouring of the shire I had also heard was filmed and might make and appearance with those other items as mentioned above.
Obviously without Saruman, since he is dead in the movies at that point.

I would much rather have seen that, as it was a pivotal moment in the novel, and a confrontation of two beings of relatively equivalent power.

I'll gladly wait longer if it means the transfer will earn a 5 star rating along with the audio. It's worth the wait if the picture and audio kick ass.

In the movie as well as the book, upon being defeated by the snow blizzard on Caradhras, the fellowship decides to attempt the Mines of Moria. As a point of difference, in the book Aragorn is reluctant to go through the mines because of his concern for Gandalf; in the movie Gandalf is reluctant. After they retrace their path and come down from the mountain (and before they enter the mines), they make a camp where they are attacked by wolves. Gandalf gets to demonstrate perhaps his most potent pyrotechnics that he displays anywhere in the book. This is one section that I wish they had included at least in the extended edition.

I see. So Sauron is pretty much immortal. The only to completely kill him was to destroy the Ring. I need to do some more research.

actualy destorying the ring did not kill him if I truly recall the full story, it just made him into a "ghost" sort to speak. He no longer as any type of power on Middle Earth

Since so much of his power was invested in it, when the ring was destroyed Sauron lost the ability to acquire a physical form, supposedly forever, although his existence continued as an impotent spirit. If you ever become a die-hard LOTR fan, the letters written by Tolkien (published strangely enough as "The Letters of J.R.R. Tolkien", edited by Humphrey Carpenter) offers a wealth of insight into the story, as explained by the Master himself. There is a great deal more depth and meaning than most people imagine.

Default The Hobbit movie is postponed!!!

I just read on this site that "The Hobbit" is delayed.

I was wondering how this is going to effect the BD releases of LOTR (Both Theatrical and EE). Until now...we assumed that EE versions are tied with "The Hobbit". Since the movie is delayed...i hope EE versions are not tied to the movie anymore...
