I will most likely be using my Amazon gift card for this set so it won't cost me much at all. When the EE's release I'll just ask for those for my birthday or Christmas that way I'm not double dipping.

the fastest way to get the EE's released, is to NOT BUY the TE's - if those garbage TE's sit on the shelves for 2 months, New Line will lose a fortune and rush out the EE's to get some money back

it's all up to us....

Yes..... but New Line has so much invested in the restoration/remastering of these, the complete lack of sales, and the monies owed to PJ, and retailers etc would probably be insurmountable and New Line will likely go bankrupt and the Extended Edition's rights would need to be obtained by another studio, and that would delay the process even further........

OR.......

we could get back to reality, and realize that sales for these titles will be huge despite what angry grumblings on the internet may suggest.

Even if the TE's dont sell well doesnt mean that the EE's are going to come out sooner. I for one will buy the TE's day 1, that will hold me over till the EE's come out sometime in the future. But thats just me. I am happy to get whatever is released. Heck, I would even buy them seprate if they just released them one at a time even if the box set came out the following year. Better than having nothing at all, right?

hey, I wasn't calling for a boycott - I for one will not be suckered by New Line into double dipping. If you want to, be my guest. But, according to the poll at the top of this page, 53% also will not buy the TE's. If 53 of every 100 people New Line "thinks" will buy into this rip-off, then they will have an overstock issue. If sales start to dry up, it will make them re-think the EE's

Incorrect.

It says they won't double dip. Some of those 53 WILL buy the Theatricals and ONLY the theatricals.

Also, this is an internet forum...for movie fans. We are a VERY small portion of the people who saw these movies.

The Theatricals will not only sell, they'll sale boat loads of copies.

Haha...poor dog. Seriously I'd rather have the theatrical versions. I avoided those and bought the EE only on DVD. It was interesting but for the time it added to the films, I don't think it was worth it. When I rewatch them I'd enjoy the theatrical versions more.

Unless the Extended Editions come with seamless branching to play the Theatricals I will double-dip and keep both sets. sometimes I want the EE's, other times I don't have the will to sit through a 4-hour movie.

I'm pretty sure all Universal titles released are/have thus far been region free.

The UK release doesn't include the digital copies, but I think will be identical otherwise...

I wonder how many folks who call the Theatrical Editions "garbage" stood in line on opening night to see...

The Theatrical Editions!

Did they consider them garbage at the time? I doubt it.

That's what I don't get: why so many people trash the theatrical versions of the movie when those are the ones that we fell in love with.

Yep, your right. It seems it was only yesterday that people were saying the regular versions of LOTR was the greatest of all time. Now it seems all people do is bash it.

Ok, I like both. Plain and simple! the TC's are good if you don't have time for the full story. the EE's are good when you have time for the hole story. So i'm not worryed about it, the EE's are coming. For now we have the Acadimy Award Winning Films.... All is good

its all Good
