from what I'm seeing in these various Blu-ray shots is that these movies have been somewhat botched and not given the treatment they so richly deserve. If I'm not mistaken, this is New Line Cinema and ultimately Warner Bros. If true, I am steadly losing all respect for Warner. Sure, the do a great job on a meager handful of titles like Wizard of Oz, but what I see in the screenshots seems to be pretty indicative of Warner's lack of integrity. To bad Sony or Disney didn't handle the movie, they have a far better or more consistant record on Blu-ray. It sounds as if basically, they needed to put each movie on two discs and maximize the bit rate along with a proper transfer, but went el-cheapo, el-greedo. I'll wait for reviews and hopefully some DVD comparisions, but this could be the REALLY BIG travesty in Blu-ray that only Warner Bors. could make happen. It already had the makings of it by not issuing the EE's.

Okay seriously, is there any DECENT screen capture software for video? Yeah the pictures look like crap BECAUSE OF THE SOFTWARE USED TO TAKE THEM. I use FRAPS Pro and the snapshot feature in VLC (saving as lossless PNG) and the picture looks NOTHING like what I see on my screen, why is that? All these pictures I've seen so far look exactly like taking a VLC snapshot, the colors are all wonky. I can load up RAMBO on my Blu-Ray Drive in PowerDVD which looks great on my 1080P 24" LCD but the picture I take is hideous...

I agree. It's just that I don't think we can pre-judge the LOTR BDs until there is an actual review or we can see them for ourselves. It could be some hd-dvd fanboy who is trying to get some revenge.
