If some reviewer reviews a Bose sound system and raves about it, then another reviewer says it's a piece of crap, and I know it's a piece of crap, who am I going to trust more?

Hell, I could know it sounds like crap without even hearing the system. All I would need are anechoic frequency response graphs of its on and off axis and I could make an accurate prediction. It's the exact same thing for blu-rays.

Something just isn't right. We'll all have the burning question of why the delay with this release in the first place. Was it even worse and what was done with FOTR was the only way to go? Or was it the heck with it after trying some things, we'll release it and folks having to have it now can go ahead and buy it?

Only trying to make some assumptions, I don't think it was the latter. Something is amiss with the whole thing and I'm sure we will not find out what it was to tell the truth. The disappointment moreso is way the wait in the first place as far as I am concerned, almost like them not wanting to let the cat of the bag back when.

So far so good. I'm waiting for three more reviews for reassurance, however I still plan to double dip because these will blow away the dvd editions.

Digital Bits http://www.thedigitalbits.com/review...ews032310.html

Dvd Town http://www.dvdtown.com/review/lord-o...n/blu-ray/7939

Blu-ray.com ?

Ralph Potts (AVS) ?

Dvd Beaver ?

Default detail veries throughout the film

The screencaps I posted were completely random but detail goes in and out throughout the movie where dnr has been applied.

Why do you people trust reviewers so much? Why can't they be in cahoots with the studios, anymore than eric.exe, or others who have posted screen caps can be in the Illuminati?

There were plenty of people who "knew" Tolkien's books were crap.

The scenes may be the same, but that doesn't mean that they were originally finished within each film identically, especially when it comes to color timing, as these shots are followed by completely different scenes with their own intentions.

Scenes from The Godfather / The Godfather Part II within The Godfather Part III don't look the same, either.
This has been said repeatedly here, yet all the naysayers here won't respond to this. You may be completely correct. It may not be possible to make FOTR look as good as (apparently) TTT and ROTK look on BD. If TTT and ROTK look better than FOTR, why would Warner have spent time making them look good and not do the same for FOTR? What possible reason would Warner have for dropping the ball on FOTR? No one has disputed what you say about FOTR not having been processed by a digital tool that was available for TTT and ROTK.

Why then is the HDTV version of FOTR better than the BD?

"FOTR can't look any better" ? Why? It can't be remastered and look as good as the 15 year old Braveheart? Or how about 2003's Curse of the Black Pearl? There is NO excuse. Period.

Why not just check out the sound system yourself?

Don't see how we can be positive at all about this release. It should have been reference and we all should be really excited around here.

I don't need another try. Have you ever read what Tolkien's detractors wrote when they criticized LOTR?
