Okay then, then I would also hope branching to be possible

Simple... rather than just "branching off" for a 30-second added-in scene, branch off for the entire section for which the sequencing has been re-edited. Just treat any scenes that have been moved around as if they were new scenes.

Won't double dip for this.... studios trying to bleed the average American worker dry.

Here are some pictures of the packaging.

Umm. Worst packaging ever? This is just about the Dumbest thing they could have done here. Besides releasing just the theatrical versions on Blu-ray first.

This slipbox better be the perfect size to fit the Best Buy Steelbook into it. Then all will be forgiven.

Otherwise I can't believe that they could have screwed this up that bad. I mean seriously what genius looked at this elementary numbers problem and came up with this solution? We have one movie trilogy consisting of three movies. How many cases should the package contain? Answer: two?

This is what the packaging should have looked like.

Custom Printed covers for the win this time for sure. Thank God for all the hard working custom cover creators for saving us when Blu-rays come in terrible retail cases.

I'd argue the "average American worker" couldn't care less about the EEs and will be more than happy with this release (regardless of DNR). It's the fanatics that the studios are trying to bleed dry with double dipping

With seamless branching, there's no reason (other than making extra money) why they couldn't just give us the theatrical and extended editions all at once. But studios and companies like to try to milk people for all they're worth. Oh well. Like I said earlier, I'll just rent these and wait for the extended editions. It's not like they're forcing us to buy these; although the ring of power does have a mind of its own.

The top pictures showing the slipbox with 2 cases (1 six disc and 1 three disc) are from the US standard packaging.

The bottom 2 pictures are custom covers I got from one of the custom artists on this site. You can find his work in the custom cover group.

Hey jonsmith369, I really really like those custom covers! Did you make those or did you get them from someone else. If so, is there any way possible that I could get them? Thanks!!!

Edit: Guess I'm checking out the customer covers thread! Thanks again!!!

Fellowship IMO, has more bad looking content than good but also has some spectacular looking scenes (Moria for example). When I say bad looking I don't mean horrendous by any means... it's better than the DVD but doesn't compare to the sequels.

Two Towers, I couldn't really fault it, roughly 95% of the film looks stunning on my system... maybe members with better systems/bigger screens will be able to find more faults, but I can't

Return Of The King is meant to be better still but I have only flicked through it briefly.

See sig for system...

Wow it looks like UK is getting all 3 in separate cases

Is there 2 in each. And no digital copies then? (really don't give a s about the digital copies myself)

If they put both versions on these discs the video compression would mutiply the complaints by 10x.

A scary thought indeed.

Personally speaking, as long as they are in regular blu-sized cases I'm cool with them being packaged together. The more shelf room it leaves me the better, IMO.

I can't find the custom covers shown previously

Were they shown on a specific page in the forum or just mentioned?
