I know that Amazon was being forced to literally remove hundreds of posts in the last few days. I believe that the guys at Blu-ray here were forced to remove some info/posts also. The omission of the extended editions on this release has really turned nasty, the last thing they (the studio) was video quality being compromised. Honestly, i never had a problem with this relase being only the theatrical ones. My motto was always if you don't want them don't buy them. The a/v quality of the blu-ray is a different altogether story though and it sems that this too will turn ugly for the studio. Anyway, it seems that sales aren't going as expected and it's going to hurt them in the wallet. Maybe they should have thought of that before and spent a little more time/money trying to put out the best they could and on feedback from their customers. It's a shame they didn't to do neither properly and instead went for the fat profit margins. Later people and as always "buyer beware".
What is the source of your information? Especially since even the people who are upset with the PQ all agree that the AQ is stellar.

LOL we Canadians pay more for everything including blurays. This is probably the first time we have EVER paid less for a new release bluray so shush! Sorry but we are used to paying 6-12 dollars more PER film. We finally get a break so good for us!

Hopefully a sign of a change in the market pricing for us Canadians.

Okay so are we going to get a review of the Bakshi LOTR on Blu? I want to know if any of the video was cropped on the sides, and by Eru, they better NOT have used ANY DNR. I want GRAIN!

What did IGN give it?

I can't see that site at work, let me guess: a 10? After that classic perfect 10 Gladiator review I can't see this getting any less than 10, unless the knob goes to 11 this time.

What for?

How would they see the PQ issues on this release but not on Gladiator?

Makes no sense to me, but whatever.

Rumor has it as 2012, but really no one knows.

Because the general population arent even aware that DNR exists let alone begin to question a company for using it.

My Lord of the Rings Blu-rays came in the mail today Now I am thinking should I go ahead and start the movies now or wait until tomorrow and have a Trilogy Tuesday, by watching all 3 at once? I could start watching the bonus stuff today and try to go to sleep early tonight, so I can get up early tomorrow and have time to have my Trilogy Tuesday tomorrow. Back in 2003 on December 16th my local Theater was one of the Theaters that showed all 3 Lord of the Rings movies together on Trilogy Tuesday.

It blows my mind that serious issues were noticed on this release yet missed when watching Gladiator.

I'd imagine that even among the majority of people reading the IGN review, only a minority of them would know what DNR stands for and only a fraction of that minority would be able to see it and recognize it.... and that's a video game site. I see some people asking what it is on this forum and this is a home theater A/V site that caters only to that tiny A/V demographic.

The general public doesn't care or don't know what DNR or other forms of digital manipulation is. People who care for such things probably have membership for forums such as these.
It will be pretty huge that's for sure.
