im saying i preordered it a few months ago at 63.99, im almost certain that it was 59.99 today.

amazon has a preorder guarantee that if you preorder youll get the lowest price available up until midnight of release day. so if it drops to 40 by the end of today i would theoretically be reimbursed the difference from the price i preordered it at.

the question is was it actually 59.99 this morning on amazon. i know for fact the price under it on blu ray .com was 59.99 this morning, but i never actually clicked to check amazon

I am 50 minutes into "The Fellowship of the Ring" and thus far, I have not seen any lines, overblown colors, or any other "I can't believe it looks like that" problems.

Yeah, you are right. I ordered it from Amazon early this morning and it was $59.99. They switched it back really quick, strange!

It was $59.95 last night and earlier this morning. I email customer service about the 4 dollar difference and was basically told I am out of luck. I am going to try calling.

I compared the Blu-rays to the upconverted DVDs.

I was very pleased with Return of the King. A significant improvement.
Fellowship... Not that much better than the upconverted DVD. Minimal improvement.
Haven't compared The Two Towers yet.

If I wasn't such a massive fan of these films, I would probably regret this purchase. I bought these mainly because I couldn't not have them.

People are just pissed because there is no Extended Editions!

They need to grow a pair and stop being an idiot and saying crap and rated it 1 star on Amazon.com

If that's the case, that's weak on their part. $4 is $4, I agree. One time it's certainly not a blip on the radar. But if it happened every time, you could buy me lots of nice stuff with the money wasted. (I prefer Whiskey)

Improvements would make you regret your purchase?

I guess I have low expectations. lol

After months of anticipation and debates from "professional" reviews and screenshots, some of us are eager to post our own impressions, for good or bad.

Also we're nerds.

I now have it in my hand, the UPS guy just delivered it! I have waited a long time for this moment; I feel like a 4 year old on Christmas morning.

whats your point. because i have a kuro amazon should be held accountable for a policy that they offer

from their site

Pre-order Price Guarantee

"Amazon.com's price for not-yet-released items sometimes changes between the time the item is listed for sale and the time it is released and shipped. Whenever you pre-order a book, CD, video, DVD, software, or video game, the price we charge when we ship it to you will be the lowest price offered by Amazon.com between the time you placed your order and the end of the day of the release date. A pre-order price guarantee message will appear on your Order Summary during the checkout process. If you use 1-Click ordering, pre-order price protection will be automatically applied. The order summary in Your Account will reflect the lowest price within 24 hours of the price change."

BUT, their assumptions/conclusions based on that that the quality of FotR is inconsistent are CORRECT.

Now, some people's assumptions of the severity of that inconsistency is incorrect (imo), but that is up to each individual's eyes to determine how inconsistent it is once they actually do see the blu-rays for themselves.

In my humble opinion, it is not a massive shift from GREAT to TERRIBLE at any given moment. BUT, it does shift back and forth between GOOD to MEDIOCRE and then to sometimes VERY GOOD throughout its 3 hour run time.
+1

Todd,

The entire vertical length of the picture + a little more. The right side
has a vertical white line about a pixel wide and the left side has a
vertical purple line a pixel wide. Anybody with overscan engaged
on their display will not see it.
