I've ordered cases from this seller on eBay and have been greatly satisfied. This seller has Blu-ray cases that hold from 1 to 6 discs. You can choose either Viva Elite or Vortex. Viva Elite would be the ones to get. They're the cases that Warner uses. Vortex are the cases with the lock on the side. They're the cases that Disney and Sony use.
Thanks for that! Think i'll get a dozen Vortex Cases. I already need 3-4 cases that need to be replaced and it is always nice to have a small stock: just in case!

I translated it with Google, so I don't know if it's exactly correct in its translation, but it sounds like a rumour to me. Of course, it'd be great if it came out in 2011, but I seriously think they'll try to hit up the holiday market with these sets - winter at the earliest - just like they did with the EE's on DVD.

If it does come out next fall, it's going to be an expensive season - LOTR EE, Star Wars Saga...man. Goodbye $300.

I really highly doubt that'll be spring. Of course, I could be wrong.

At the earliest it would be fall 2011 for the holiday season, which would put it in direct competition with Star Wars....no way!
This doesn't even take into consideration if Peter Jackson would have time to work on the set while filming The Hobbit.

Peter Jackson has every right to say he doesn't want to be a part of the transfer. That being said, I don't imagine he will. I don't think he supervised the first transfers though; as far as I know, they did it and sent him a copy. All he had to do was approve it.

This is true, no doubt...but you have to think that the Alien Anthology raised the proverbial bar a little bit for blu-ray catalog sets, at least a little!
With that in mind, one would think Peter Jackson would want to oversee the authoring of an EE set. Maybe I'm just applying a little wishful thinking here!

He's certainly made it sound like he'll be involved in past interviews, but he said the same sort of thing about the theatrical editions. The theatricals turned out okay, not demo quality but certainly alright. Short of re-mastering it, I don't know what they'd do to improve it.

But I would say Jackson being significantly involved might be wishful thinking I really hope he is too, and I'm hoping for new special features this time.

I was gonna wait till the extended editions were released on blu to get the trilogy, but I may hit up Walmart on BF and get the theatrical versions cheap. I'm gonna start a LotR Christmas tradition this year and I want to see them on Blu

Smile I'm waiting for BF.

I'm not a big fan of the movies, but I do like The Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers. I'll pick them up if I can find a good price on BF. I've seen both versions, and I do prefer the extended edition, but I don't care much. I'm only going to purchase the two films once.

The EE of the FOTR is on starzHD right now, but it's widowboxed.

Any idea why? Doesn't this happen when a 4:3 program is viewed on a 16:9 TV then changed back to 4:3? But why would starzHD do this, don't they have it in HD?

I will. Why waste $24 right now when I don't have to see it RIGHT NOW?? I can wait on the EEs.

But don't get me wrong, I'm not one of the ones who's mad and boycotting New Line because the EEs haven't been released. They'll be released eventually and that's when I'll buy them.

I did the same with Avatar. I didn't HAVE TO HAVE IT DAY ONE so I waited until the EE came out.

To each his own, but I prefer to buy only one copy of a movie and I prefer it to be the copy I want.

i don't think i could go that long w/o watching these movies. i'll probably watch each one 5-10x each before the EE's are released......and that's if they even are released by next x-mas.

that and i don't think the EE's are that spectacular. they drag on a bit for me. i mainly bought the EE dvd's b/c of the supplemental material. i love that sh!t.
