What's the difference between the slim packaging and the thick packaging?

Sorry if this has been asked before.

Most likely not until Bilbo goes there and back again.

Thanks. Glad I ended up with the thin packaging then. It looks much nicer and as much as I love these films, not sure when I would have the urge to watch them on my iPhone or CPU.

No problem, and I agree, the slim packaging is the way to go!

Yeah, but the way I figure, and since I'm in no hurry to get the set (Target took care of that for me), might as well wait to get one giant all-inclusive set that includes the EE's (with better transfers hopefully), the two "Hobbit" films, as well as all the previous bonus material that was left off the recent theatrical Blu releases...I've got no problem being patient.

If they do have better transfers I will def. double dip. If they don't then I am unsure.

While I've only seen screenshots of the Blu's myself, I felt the general consensus amongst the majority of professional reviews I read, was that they could look better. Hopefully they will...

I'll get the EEs once they're out, but I'm not going to get the hobbit till both parts are available on blu-ray.

That's what I read as well. I haven't seen the blus, and I will not until Christmas. I'd only get depressed looking at the screenshots cause I can't watch them yet.

Understandable. I'm not getting depressed though, and I don't even have the discs (nor will I at all most likely). But I still have a good feeling they'll be improved when they bring out the EE's.

I'll more than likely only double dip on the trilgy if there are a lot of great new extras and new transfers, but I'm also holding out the The Hobbit until they release some definitive There and Back Again edition.

It's not waiting for LOTR that makes me depressed, it's the waiting for all the great/good stuff I bought that kills me. I'm stuck watching my old stuff. I'm glad I got the regular blu rays though, cause watching DVD's sucks anyway, but when I know that they are on blu, it's worse. Although my player upconverts pretty well, but of course its not the same.

I'm confused...what "great/good stuff" that you bought?

I was too, but I could not pass up 7.99 per movie. I'll double dip if I have too!
