The end of 2014 is starting off with some very affordable 4k TV's from name brand manufactures, this Black Friday Holiday season will be no exception!
What I want to gather, and others too, is to find the best holiday deals around for 4k/OLED TV sets between Black Friday and the Christmas season, including promo's, special deals, limited time special events and exclusive discounts! Not limited to Sam Club's, Costco's and Amazon Warehouse Specials. Two current Black Friday 4k TV specials are listed below. If you find anymore deals, list them in this thread below! ![]() ![]() (On November 15, Sam's Club will sell a Vizio 60-inch, 4K Smart TV for $998, roughly $700 less than the regular price. The deal will be part of Sam's Club's 'Holiday Savings Celebration' sale, which will begin at 7 a.m. on November 15 and last just one day, according to Bfads.com, a site that tracks holiday shopping trends. The sale includes 103 items (including the Vizio TV) that will be deep-discounted during that day. However, the retailer warns that quantities will be limited and there will be no rain checks. (There will be 5-11 Vizio discounted sets per store, Sam's Club says. But the discounted set will also be available at the Sam's Club web site.) Best Buy's special Promo (Best Buy's headline attraction is a Samsung 55-inch LED Ultra HF Smart TV for $899.99, which it describes as "the lowest price we have ever offered on a Samsung." Industry watchers are betting that Ultra Hi Def TVs, also known as 4K TVs, will emerge as a hot holiday gift among affluent consumers.) |

You wouldn't get me near any of these stores on Black Friday and you wouldn't get me into a Sam's Club or Walmart anytime, no matter how cheap they sold something for. |

I like Sharp's new 4K, UD27U series. It comes in 60" $2,299 and 70" $2,999.

The minimum I want to go with is a 75" 4k TV, because according to standard Optimum HDTV viewing distance , 75" should be the minimum for a distance of 10 feet. I only have a few options for sizes bigger then 70+, so hopefully next year there will be a bigger selection at cheaper prices! Last edited by AudioWarrior; 11-13-2014 at 12:51 AM. |

From your experience, which current LED 4k set offers the best contrast/black levels? |

I'm a big fan of Sharp's new UD27 series. Excellent contrast ratio, color accuracy, saturation and motion resolution. Best of all the off axes viewing does not degrade color or contrast, like all other vertically aligned LCD/LED TVs.
In Plane Switching, IPS LCD/LED panels have good off axes performance, but suffer with low contrast. Sharp's UD27 is nicely designed, great build quality and is priced below the market. -Robert |

I currently see about four 65" 4k TV's models under $2000. BTW, the JVC can be had at other online retailers. AntaresPro.com - JVC DM65USR - MSRP $1999 - cheapest online price $1,801.99+$67.90 shipping East Coast TVs - Samsung UN65HU8550 - $1,879.00+ free shipping - 2% off coupon brings it to $1838 Amazon - Toshiba 65L9400U - $1,999.99 & FREE Shipping Amazon - LG Electronics 65UB9200 - saw it for $1999, but now $2,199 Best Buy - VIZIO P652ui-B2 - Currently $2,199, but wouldn't be surprised to see it below $2000 around the Holidays (Walmart is combating Best Buys Black Friday deal on it's Samsung 55" 4k TV for $899, by selling a Vizio 4k 50" set for $698) Last edited by AudioWarrior; 11-13-2014 at 02:32 AM. |

To give you some idea as to its significance with real world content….I found when I then played some of the most demanding Blu-ray movie content (for detail) that I have, first on my perfectly calibrated Sony flagship 4K TV and then on the Vizio 70 incher, there was no discernible difference in the appearance of the images with regards to sharpening artifacts affecting detail. |

Have you tried actual 4k content to do a comparison, and if so, which has the better image quality? I just wish Sharp, or Sony would release a 75" for $3000 next year because 70" is too small from 10 feet away! ![]() |

https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...st#post4453123 *The project had been a work-in-progress since 2008, but got delayed – https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...de#post1432708 Anyway, to see what I mean, take one of your trusty Blu-ray movies that contain the test signals as described above, put it in a Blu-ray player hooked up to a well calibrated Sony 4K tv and do the same with the Vizio and skip through the color bars, the free IEEE Video Resolution Chart (http://www.aig-imaging.com/mm5/merch...olution-Charts) and the flesh tone images of the blonde model ![]() I think the Vizio is an excellent value but still not Tier1 ![]() |

Speaking of flesh tones, attention lyris, I can excuse the ‘temporal’ mispronunciation thing and also even the incorrect inverse telecine of 1080i source material assertion for The Fifth Element back in the day, but one thing I just can’t cotton to is something this far *off*
![]() I recommend self-calibration a la the new DCI 4K Eizo - http://www.eizoglobal.com/products/c...-4k/index.html Hang in their bud ![]() |
