yeah, I don't really care if it's a crap blu-ray player. If cutting corners on the bd side allowed them to spend more on the gaming side, then by all means cut away.

Now, I'm ex-gamer of enough videogames is good fun play. I would like to watch videogames from YouTube. Metal Gear Solid is a God of videogames.

I'm the nerd that always set the clock, I seen cheaper models of players that have a clock why not this one? emailed Samsung no reply as of yet. is there not an app or a hack to make it have a clock? I have been through the menu and all and there is no clock setting on this model.
Huh? There is such a thing as dvd and bluray players with front facing clocks? I thought those were on vcrs because it had to tell the time to start timed recording. Interesting.

No mention of VUDU 4k, but otherwise it looks great. And that price is very reasonable for a first gen player.

Noted in features and specs: Netflix,Vudu,Hulu, Amazon. Can't imagine they are not referring to 4K for all of them.

IMO the curved shape (while I'm not thrilled with it) is the least of the concerns with this player.

It's a Samsung player. Translation: It may work great with initial discs released, but then when discs are released later that require a firmware update, get ready to wait around forever, and hope that the eventually update doesn't cause other problems with the player.

Anyone who actually buys this player should just cut to the chase and throw it in the garbage right away.

I missed that. Thanks. Let's hope they are all 4k, and it's not still exclusive to Vizio and Roku.

Samsung's early BD players weren't that great, but in the last couple of years, they have been very solid and reliable. Maybe their 4K players will continue that trend.

This guy's a savage [emoji12]
Hopefully SONY announces one later this evening so I can keep my brand uniformity for my HT.

Bestbuy.com also has this player up for pre-order. Looks to have a March release.

Sweet. Same price and it says if you use expedited shipping, it arrives by 2/22. I doubt that'll pan out, but I might go ahead and preorder it from them since I have a bunch of gift certificates I need to use.

Have to say I am quite impressed with the price. Even considering the inevitable event that when released in the UK, they'll just change the dollar sign to a pound sign I find myself impressed.

It's also $100 less than the 3+ year old Oppo 103. Not bad for a player that supports UHD resolution, however, it doesn't handle SACD so the Oppo does that have advantage.

Going to be a long few weeks for us in the UK to hear some news. I don't much like the articles that are stating the Panasonic player for a stupid UK price (£700-ish). I'd be happy for the Samsung one.

Could be almost 3 months if it's late March. But I don't mind honestly. There aren't that many must own titles in the initial launch. A few of the Fox ones. Maybe a couple WB releases. Probably none of the crap from Sony. And hell, a lot of those may not even be real 4k transfers.

I'll hang onto my Oppo 103 simply because it's region free. The SACD/DVD-A capability is just gravy. Shoot, my fat PS3 plays SACDs.

I've already started saving, so bring it on! lol Although I might wait a few weeks after it's released to see if there are any problems.
