HELP! I have a vizio m64-c3 series and the k8500 blu ray player, when i tried to play the martian uhd blu ray it displayed an image that read "connect your 4k blu ray player to a TV that supports 4K with high dynamic range" I know the vizio does not have high dynamic range. is this is what is causing the problem.

With this disc it says that. It will still play. For the vizio m series i recommend deep color off on the player and go into tools with the disc playing and set it to dynamic. It tends to showcase off the resolution and color really well.

No after it says "connect your 4k blu ray player to a TV that supports 4K with high dynamic range" the TV displays no signal.

I tried UHD color on and off and so far I like the look of it off better. I noticed some banding in the sky on The Martian with UHD color on and when I turned it off it was gone. This is with a JS8500 tv so slightly different but same "family" of tvs

Have you tried playing the disc with your player's settings at a lower resolution? if that works there's a possibility that your TV's settings are inhibiting playback, but "no signal" is usually a HDMI handshake issue. Unplug everything (HDMI lead from TV and player) and leave it for a few minutes.

I don't see the problems others are having with the washed out colors, banding, orange tint, etc.
Am I missing something here? I'm not a videophile so maybe I don't notice these things. I've watched the Maze Runner and The Martian on 4K UHD with no problems. |

What causes my problems with high contrast and orange tinting is everytime I load a 4K UHD disc in the player all my settings (Backlight, Contrast, Brightness, Color and Sharpness) peak at 100%! Once I set everything right and if I go back to the menu, it does it again! Watching the movie without stopping or pausing I do not need to adjust the settings again (until I put in another 4K disc). This never happens with DVD or standard blu ray. Just the UHD blu rays. I am watching on a Samsung JU7500 UHD TV. Anyone else having this issue? Its probably something Samsung can fix in a firmware update in the future. But it is annoying though.

How long can you wait for that? Can you get it at a different store? Only $4 in my case, but if I'm in the store anyway it'll be worth it to give it a shot.

Be sure to check all your settings on your TV and UHD blu ray player. It should not matter if your TV has HDR or not. I have a 2015 Samsung without HDR and it plays.
Are you plugging the HDMI directly into the TV or using a audio/video receiver? Tried using a different HDMI port? This is very odd this is happening. I can understand if you get the message about HDCP 2.2 but not HDR (because HDR is not a necessity to view UHD blu rays). Hope you work things out. ![]() |

God, this whole thing is turning into an absolute goat screw. I mean Christ, don't these people actually plug one of their machines into a TV and give it a whirl before releasing it? You have the player, the UHD discs and the appropriate display, that bad boy should leap into action without any grief whatsoever. |
