I am really wondering whether or not to return my K8500 (have 3 days left on my 45 days) and hold out for the Panasonic unit's hopeful US release later this year.
I say hopeful because I've yet to see any US confirmation on it whatsoever. |

So far it's a keeper but I dunno how it will handle triple layered discs.

So, I have a Samsung 4K tv that I bought last August and it turns out that it lacks HDR support. I went to BB tonight and purchased a 55JS7000 which supposedly is HDMI 2.2 compliant on all four ports, yet when I hooked up my 4K player I still get the message that the content will be displayed in HD because it's not 2.2 compliant
![]() Can someone help me out, I'm a bit confused here as I was told this set is HDR ready.. I do notice a diffence in the video quality compared to the other set. |

I've upgraded my Samsung TV with the SEK 3500. Now I've got (limited) HDR support and 10bit.
About the dynamic mode on the player: I'd recommend to use the user setting and set both colors and brightness to +5. Then it does the same as the dynamic mode but it looks like dynamic also sharpens and DNRs the picture a little which can be avoided with the user setting. About cables: I've used an older HDMI cable. It worked but there were drop outs from time to time. I've got a new one (packaging says HDMI 1.4 4K) and it works fine. Dropouts are gone. |

I just wish I had more confirmation of the next US 4K BDP unit before I returned it, which I'm almost 100% sure I will tomorrow. |

We do know it will not be Dolby Vision compatible, however. It will only read the HDR10 data layer on DV graded discs. Last edited by FilmFreakosaurus; 03-29-2016 at 05:38 PM. |

I realized tonight that it was because I had not turned on UHD color on the options! I've got it all set up and correctly working. I'm watching Mad Max 4K disc and it looks spectacular!
![]() My one question now is, when watching a normal bluray on my player should I turn off the uhd color option on my tv or leave it on? Or does the tv automatically detect the HDR content and turn on/off this option based on the content you are playing? Last edited by KillaCam; 03-30-2016 at 02:02 AM. |

Few sound bars are likely to have the support for HDMI 2.0a and hdcp 2.2 passthru. So definitely consider using hdmi port 2 for sound.

I also have a Samsung soundbar and I use the optical cable to connect it straight to my tv. Is it better to use hdmi from the Samsung player straight to the soundbar? Is it going to sound extremely better that way? I'll try it out this evening when I get home from work.
