It will work. You could try switching the K8500 colorspace to RGB full which may allow you to keep the TV on auto. This would emulate a PC RGB signal which the TV may recognize and automatically switch to high black level.

Yes but I'd rather change it from my HD Sony display or it will mess with my HDR Oled tv settings when I go use my Oled TV to watch discs in HDR

I scrolled through several pages of this thread with no luck, so my apologies if this has been discussed. Was playing an older DVD and 10 minutes into the show on the K8500, the screen turned to snow but there was sound. Then the sound went away and the DVD acted as if I just put it in the player for the first time. I tried a BluRay and it did the same thing. Has anyone else had this happen?

I changed the resolution from "Auto" to 2160 in Settings and am still having issues. The difference is that now the player will go to snow, then black, and then back to the movie in 5 second intervals instead of just snow. Very annoying. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

That all sounds like HDMI handshake issues. Try a new high speed HDMI cable if you can.

I had handshake issues with 2 former short HDMI cables. After changing HDMI cable to Wii U consoles cable they got solved. I used to get message "HDR movie is played" flickering in some 15 minutes or so.

Hmmm....I hadn't thought about it being an HDMI issue. I will order some new cables and give them a shot. Thank you for the suggestion waff and Leterface and for the cable recommendation Conans Rage!

It doesn't have the required processor chip installed.

Maybe it's me, but I tried blurays with resolution set on Auto, 2160, and 1080, and they all look the same to my eyes

Maybe the scaler on the Samsung player or your T.V. set are great or maybe you should pay a visit to an optician.

I have an LG Oled C6. When you say that I should pay a visit to an optician, are you trying to say that the difference in upscaling should be that much from player to TV?

It's not dramatic, but should be noticable is what he's saying I think

What's funny is that most here can be obsessive over the right picture settings you would think they would want the original not messed with 1080 resolution instead of an upscaled one. The added detail is distracting to me not natural.

Rocky, I also have been testing this with BD's and between my KS8000 and the K8500, I have a hard time seeing a difference as well.

Once I get a UHD BD to test, I think it might be easier to see.

For now, I'm keeping it on Auto.

No, you would just get annoying torching-bright highlights. Subtitles would also be very painful to read. I could live without HDR as long as the WCG and REC709 mapping is there

I just bought a lg OLED65B6P. I had this player hooked up to a js8500. Are there any settings on the player I need to change like the 4:4:4 or anything?
