Try unplugging the machine, wait 5 minutes, then plug it back in. That should take care of the problem.

I'm using BD-wise because it changes the settings depending on the media. With an UHD Blu-ray the player puts out 2160p. With a Blu-ray the player puts out 1080p. Seems like Samsung prefers to use the upscaler in the TV instead of the one in the player.

Just make sure you adjust the BD-wise settings a little. After activating it on the player and the TV sharpness is set too high (should be 0 in my opinion) and the colors are set too high, too. Some people looked like they had a sunburn. Motion flow and dynamic contrast will be activated too.

So I recommend to use BD wise and adjust the settings.

You know, I would use "gentle giant" to describe this 4k Player.

I'm still experiencing handshake issues with the newest firmware when I power it on. Picture occasionally cuts in and out, including when I play something of a external hard drive. It all goes away once disc begins to play. Still better than fw 1004. Didn't experience anything like this with fw 1003.

Is the HOME main screen also in UHD or in 1080?

Not that's much of a consolation, but regular Blu are only in 4:2:0 color, so at least you won't feel like your missing out.
So is it best to disregard the firmware upgrade alert?

i tried putting it to movie, so it matched my tv, still looked different though and made the hdr look disappointing. any advice? also what do i have the color set to, rgb standard rgb enhanced ycbr4:4:4 or auto? need some help please. also bdwise doesnt work for me in the uk even though my tv supports it and it turned to ON on my tv settings the player wont let me activate it, says my tv doesnt support it.
I would think the wisest thing is to always have it on Auto

What is the actual difference between watching Netflix content in 4K or in HDR?

I'm in the minority for having issues with the newest fw.

But from what I read thus far, only the 1004 upgrade seems to give issues, the 1005 is fine

I've never seen any Netflix stuff in HDR, but I imagine it would benefit from the same bump in picture quality that UHD transfers do. I have seen Amazon shows in both 4k and 4k with HDR and there is a noticeable difference there.

Give me an example of content that is available in 4K HDR, please?

I am skimming through the thread (over 100 pages)...So to resume:
What are the ideal settings on this player when watching 4K content? And should we change any of the settings when switching back to regular blurays? Should we just set everything in Auto mode and leave it alone?

At Samsung's 2016 tv launch the other day, samsung says the demand for the 4k blu ray player has far exceeded expectations and stripped their supplies. They said they will ramp up production. Over the next 6-8 weeks.

"Das said the company was “overwhelmed” by the response and called the 4K Blu-ray player launch “one of the strongest products introduced” by Samsung."

Not bad for a "dead on arrival" format

My brother-in-law works at Best Buy and just picked a player up for me. He asked if I wanted an HDMI cable since he gets a discount but I passed. Any suggestions/recos on cable? I will probably connect it this weekend. Very excited.
