All you need is another hdmi cord. You can wait to upgrade your receiver later.
Awesome to hear this! I don't think I could swing picking up another receiver. Trying to save up for a wedding. The only reason I'm getting the blu-ray player is because I have a $200 credit with Samsung. haha. Thanks for the answer!

Other sellers have no date or removed their previously announced first allocation date. Anyway, looks like several authorized dealers will have a good allotment of Samsung's 4K BD player before the Ultra HD BD discs become available. So all is good for the March 1st launch of Ultra HD, HDR, WCG, 10-bit graded with PQ digital gamma on Blu-ray!!

I just noticed the same thing on my Amazon preorder, it no longer says Feb 14th.

Well, it has two weeks to get to me before my UHD discs start arriving...

I jumped on the preorder bandwagon almost the instant that Amazon listed the Samsung at the preorder price, so I'll be disappointed if that doesn't count for something when it comes to allotment.

I just got off chat with amazon, and Im being told they are having problems with availability for the samsung 4k player. I preordered mine on Jan. 16th, and the guy I talked to said he's seeing a March 24th delivery date for my order on his end. I hope he doesn't know what he's talking about, cause thats crazy. With that being said, how does best buy preorders work? Are they the same as amazon, where they don't charge your card til the item ships?

I pre-ordered on Jan 13th, and I got the same email. I am placing an order on Best Buy as BB is still showing a release date of Feb 12th.

I have never been charged until the item actually ships from Bestbuy.

Oh this is all crappy from Amazon. I placed my order as soon as I saw they were available too. Might have to try Best Buy.

So, Robert - do you have any from your allotment left to ship out to a 4K fanatic in Miami?

I used a debit card to preorder it from BestBuy, they charged my card soon after but it was a placeholder and the charge went away after a few days. Mine is still on track for 2/12.

Glad you asked, 38 available from my allocation of 100 pieces.

I wouldnt worry about the no date change. Id rather take my chances with Amazon getting it to me first rather than best buy. I am sure within the next 3 weeks a date will be defined and it will be march 1st or before.
If Best Buy sends them out, Amazon will as well.

Correct, and just to clarify, at least a few months in advance of the launch each authorized retailer places their orders and allocations are determined. Now sometimes politics can sway the actual numbers somewhat, but the market is usually in short supply for new hot a/v product/technology advancements. So when Value Electronics, Amazon, Best Buy, etc run out of the first allotment they are in a no ship status at launch for orders over their allocation.

Thanks, Robert. I'll reach out to you by PM on Monday if Amazon doesn't provide me with any sort of concrete update. I know you mentioned you're expected to receive yours on 2/22 or thereabouts.

Samsung's own website is now listing this as a March release.

Didn't it say March release on Samsung's website the whole time? I think the reason why Amazon has changed their delivery date is because they have got more preorders than they have units in the first allocation.

I'm curious if all orders from Amazon were marked with no estimated shipping date or if there will actually be some lucky souls who get the player as originally promised. As mentioned, I was Johny-on-the-spot when it came to placing my preorder, and yet now it's in limbo.

Good luck to those who get this player! I will hold out for Oppo to show up & lay claim to the top spot...again.

I held off on ordering waiting for Sony to announce their own. Robert, any word from Sony at CES if you got a chance to see them?

Thinking about just getting the BDPS6500 for the 4K upscaling and Blu-ray 3D since the PS4 is the biggest piece of shit 3D player ever, buy the UHD combo packs for new releases, selective about catalogs since they're combos anyways, and wait on Sony to announce their player. Not a fan of the length and curve of the samsung player.

[Show spoiler]That's what she said.

^^I made the final decision to do the same recently. I needed a new player anyway since my BDP-S580 sounded like it was on it's way to BD player heaven. I was a little worried about taking money out of my UHD savings to buy it, but luckily it didn't take long to get it back.
