Mine looked good. Had it wall mounted with the TV and my sound bar I had at the time. Waiting for a higher end 4K UHD blu-ray player because Samsung's blu-ray players just end up being junk...

Any news?
This is what is happening to me, which is really strange:
I have not received yet my 4K Vizio TV, so I am using the Samsung 8500 for regular 1080p blurays and Netflix/Amazon.
Here is what's happening with Netflix....Every time I try to play a UHD program like Daredevil, or one of those nature musical shorts, whether I have the player's resolution set on Auto or 1080p I am unable to get video but only audio, while on the screen a message appears telling me that my TV is not HDCP 2.2 compliant. I know my TV is not HDCP 2.2 compliant, in fact I am using a projector in 1080p, but why cant I play those Netflix titles in regular HD? Should the Samsung player downscale to the capability of my display device?
When I play those original Netflix UHD programs on my Roku device they play just fine in 1080p

Crap, I totally forgot. I will send myself an email now as a reminder. The wife won't be around this evening so I can mess with it.

Yes, although I do have trouble getting YouTube to play 4k clips. They usually display in 1080p. And I know my bandwidth is adequate since the YouTube app on my TV can handle 4k clips(most of the time anyway).

But Amazon and Netflix handle 4k fine. The Netflix app is glitchy too though. Far too often the screen turns black when I stop playing something and I have to reboot the player. Samsung's got some work to do.

Have you tried to run Netflix 4K titles from your TV apps rather than from the Samsung UHD player's apps?

Yes, I have. And I've almost never been able to get the Netflix app to load on the JS9500. The rest of the apps seem to work fine, so I'm pretty sure it ain't the TV.

Are you saying that the issue is not the player or the TV, but Netflix 4K streaming itself?

Over on avs,I never see this complaint in the js9500 thread . I use Netflix daily on my js9500 with no issues.

Your issue must be specific to your tv. I would try reinstalling the app, or doing a smart hub reset.

Is this what you were looking for?

Netflix on Samsung, one hdmi to Marantz, and one HDMI from Marantz to display.

My player just arrived today. Tried to play the Lego 4K but a message pops up on the screen "HDR device not recognized" I click ok and it plays but only in 1080. I tried the YouTube app on the player and can play 4K videos but the screen drops out for a few seconds every 10 to 30 second intervals.

I need to update my sig. My tv is a 4K curved Samsung 65" HU9000

Does your TV support HDR?

I read a review on it, but it didn't mention HDR at all.

The panel does but apparently the Samsung one connect box needs to be updated to their newer SEK-3500 evolution kit for $400. Problem is the SEK-3500 is not available anywhere

Hopefully you can find one. Otherwise you will have to upgrade your TV so soon after buying an expensive curved TV, or go without HDR

I thought the player would at least work in 4K without the HDR. Even though I have the player fixed output at 2160 (not auto) I'm only getting a 1080 signal

Try plugging in to a different hdmi or using the new amazon 2.0 cable. You will be able to get get 4k resolution with or without hdr.
I sent you a message

Did you check this? I think one of the HDMI IN ports on the One Connect box is marked MHL.

Quote:
Case 3 : HU series
• Use an HDMI cable to connect the Player to the UHD TV.
• Make sure to connect the cable to the HDMI IN (MHL) port on the UHD TV. –On a TV from the HU series, only the HDMI IN (MHL) port supports HDCP2.2.

The Vizio P 2016 is the safest bet for HDR and Dolby Vision...bit pricy though

Just looking at calibrator comments and the disarray with HDR10 and the fact DV is better laid out. Probably gonna be '17 or '18 before this still really settles in accuracy wise. Just enjoy it now as an early adopter
