Thanks but that did not work. HDMI 4 is marked as MHL. The only picture I can get on that port is 1080. Hdmi 1-3 will play the 4K menu screen but not the MHL port?

You HAVE to have the new One Connect box for that particular TV.

4K without HDR should be possible because it worked on my HU6900. Check the manual (it's available online on samsung.com if you don't have it). I'm sure one HDMI port is capable of 4K/UHD. Deactivate UHD Color for that port because UHD Color and 4K don't work at the same time without HDMI 2.0a. Also set the color space to auto or RGB. 4:4:4 only works with lower framerates on your TV.

When you watch a flick set your display to whatever input the player is connected, and set your AVR to whatever input the player is connected. Video from the display and audio from the AVR.
Hooked it up this weekend and worked perfectly! Thanks again for your help! Fury Road looked awful till I changed the picture settings. I have the Revenant coming in today.

No 2.0 mentioned. Should that be a concern when hooking up the UHD Samsung player to the TV and AVR?

"Will I need a special "4K-compatible" HDMI cable?

No, you won't need to upgrade to "4K-compatible" HDMI cables. Current HDMI cables that are labeled "high speed" should be able to handle the increased bandwidth of 4K video signals."

Just purchased this. Looks great but my somy tv only has one hdcp 2.2 port.
If I were to buy the onkyo Tx-nr646 I should be good as far as pass through goes?

Only three HDMI input ports out of eight are HDCP 2.2 compliant.

It also only does 5.1.2 rendering of Dolby Atmos and soon DTS: X. I would at least have support for four overhead speakers with immersive audio rather than two.

That is why I prefer Denon over Onkyo. Denon comes with all HDCP 2.2 ports, all 8 of them

I've come to learn that User mode is the best option rather than Dynamic mode.

Yes, probably so with a tv that supports HDR. Dynamic mode is almost a must use for any 4k tvs that do not use HDR.
I spent a few weeks testing that comparison out when I first got my player.

Anyone tried the HDfury integral that cuts off HDR?

My set has no HDR support but I still set it to User mode for my preference. Dynamic is just way too bright for my taste. I adjusted the Color/Contrast/Brightness to my liking and it looks pristine.

This has been beat to death. No hdr is a very dark picture, no matter how you spin it.

HD Fury's website. Id like to get 4K SDR Rec 709 to my display from a UHD disc, but I think the Panasonic might be my only method. JVC FP guys are using the Fury to remove HDR since it forces them into a mode with an elevated black level, but still passes WCG.
