Just got the 1114 firmware update for my KS9500 as well. I know 1112 added HDR+ but I have no idea what this new one does.

Same here. Hopefully, it helps fixes some of the flakiness in playing UHD Blu-ray's.

I just bought this yesterday. So far, it works great. I have an Epson 1080p projector that the machine scaled down to (and tells you that it will due to lack of HDCP 2.2).

I have a 4K monitor, I haven't gotten around to hooking them together yet.

But the best part is the apps, especially Plex. There are so many apps on this thing. The Plex app itself is buggy as hell, but it (mostly) works.

Will the firmware automatically actcivate (when hardwired to internet) or do we still have to go to the general settings and look for it?

With the newest firmware, the info screen now displays when the player's HDR is activated. That's kinda handy! Haven't found any other changes yet. Netflix still doesn't support HDR [emoji17]

What I'm hoping for is that this firmware was more about solidifying its ability to play UHD Blu-ray discs without glitching. That's what I bought this to do. Streaming is just a side bonus.

What type of glitching exactly? I thought 4K discs played flawless on the Sammy

What I find pretty cool on this unit is the fact that the firmware update can be done while it's off. If you choose "update later", that's what it does.

I've had some issues mostly with Fox UHDs. After I hit play the TV says there is no source connected, but the receiver plays the audio. I have to change inputs and back again to get a picture on the TV. It doesn't happen on all UHDs. I have the video going to the TV and audio going to the receiver via the 2 separate HDMI outputs on the player.

I downloaded the update yesterday. I need to test with Deadpool when I get home from work tonight. My other option would be to run everything through the receiver to see if that makes any difference as it does handle 4K and HDR pass thru.

How do we know it is not an issue related to the TV?
When I had the Vizio connected I was experiencing similar issues even with regular non-UHD use of the player. With the LG Oled those issues disappeared completely. It could be and HDMI handshake issue.

i think the other poster was a little confused and posted in the wrong thread.

HDR+ is samsungs new highly affective SDR to HDR converter feature. it turns SDR content into HDR-ISH content by using special algorithms to tone map the expanded color gamuts and few other fancy things. the feature is on samsung tvs only.

Thanks for the info! So many new terms. I worked in consumer electronics for seven years up until 6 years ago - it's all very different now.
