On sale at BB for $369.99.

Can't make up my mind if I should jump on this or sit wait for the Xbox at the end of August.

The Samsung will bitstream audio, the Xbox will not. That can be an important distinction.

Yes. For some time. There's a reason the new and old XBOX can't.

Alrighty, not a problem for me right now but a shame nonetheless. Can you provide a source for this?

A German tech site, Hardwareluxx, is also reporting that the One S does not support immersive bitstreams and that it has the same limitations as the last Xbox console.

On AVS Forum it's already common knowledge. They have tech writers too.

Sorry, but what is bitstream audio? 😕 I am guessing it would not matter if I don't plan on using anything other than the speakers that came with my tv.

has anyone actually tested the article in question to suggest so, sorry I wasnt just talking about people saying stuff ... and I'm really anyone to care who they might be. a positive confirmation on testing would be fine for me one way or the other.

bitstream sends the native digital for your processor to decode...needed for say atmos or dts-x

otherwise you get the player decoding and sending out as pcm...

Well, sure it would be fantastic if what Microsoft has said to the press is inaccurate as that it would make for a cheaper, all-in-one unit to give UHD Blu-ray some extra traction.

Somehow, I don't think this will be the case. Otherwise, Dolby and DTS would be putting out press releases touting that yet another exciting piece of technology supports their newest immersive audio codecs.

Had my first issue with the player, the new UHD Star Trek Into Darkness, twice around the 48-50 minute mark started hesitating to play(disc was clean), had to fast forward to get it back to playing correctly.

no worries, i'll take it no one has actually tested one to say otherwise.

just watched into the darkness in the last week and played through fine. great movie. maybe want to check again to be sure. the sammy sure seems quite sensitive to discs. even the smallest amount of dust/ perhaps even finger print

Nope. The hhgregg ad said I should of got one when I bought my curved Samsung tv. I went back 5 days later to ask them about it and was told it was for online purchase only. Other than that I would have never tried to pick one up.

you guys have been really helpful. I have another question....So I am going to try to get the Samsung closer to my projector (around 12 feet) and get a much shorter HDMI cable to run the video to the projector. I still have the mono price HDMI 35 ft cable run in the wall and it will be plugged into my audio HDMI on the back of the Samsung into my receiver in the front.

Here is my question......the HDMI in question has a label on either end. One for "display" and other for "source". Does it matter which end is which when just dealing with audio only? If it is an issue then I will have to rip it out of the ceiling as the end that states "source" would be going into the Marantz receiver. So, it's backwards. I'm crossing my fingers that this isn't an issue as it is just audio I would be dealing with. Thoughts?
