Well guys, I took the plunge and bought it!
![]() I think I got all of the setting right. Is there anything you guys recommend for setting wise? I have the 65" JS8500 TV. I got the settings for color on Native and got UHD color on. I normally have dynamic contrast on Medium. Should I have that off? I also set my white point balance, should that be zero out? Also have it on Warm 1 Thanks ![]() |

A question: I don't have a 4K TV yet but plan to get one at some point in the next year. Unfortunately it looks like my current Blu-Ray player (Panasonic DMP-BDT500) is going to crap out on me before that. Could I get the K8500 and watch "normal" Blu-Rays with it even though I only have a 1080p televison or will the HDCP 2.2 HDMI-Out of the K8500 not allow that? I realizie I won't be able to watch Ultra Blu-Rays with such a setup but will non-Ultra Blu-Rays work? Thanks!

so I now moved my player closer to my JVC and am running two separate HDMI cables so I can actually use this damn thing.
STILL no luck. I now have picture but the HDMI 2 audio will not work no matter what I do. I've changed every setting I can think of on the player for the Marantz to pick up the audio and nothing. No audio. Any ideas? I've had this player for two weeks now and haven't watched one single disc in my home theater. |

BTW, how long do these Sony titles take to show up in my VUDU account? I redeemed The 5th Wave on the Sony site yesterday evening, and it said I now had a 4K + HDR copy in my collection. Yet as of now it still hasn't ported over to VUDU. |

Has anyone else had any issues playing dvd on this player? I have been having issues lately where the playback will get choppy then it will stop and go to a black screen. I initially thought I had a bad dvd but have found that it happens with pretty much every DVD I try.
They are all in pristine condition, not burned material all store bought and correct region. Anyone else have this issue? |

I finally got the settings right with this player and with my Sony 930D TV. I really love HDR as far as the player goes I have tried about 10 UHD disc in the past 3 days and I have only had a couple minor problems where it lost connection for a min or two and came back on. The Revenant was one of those Disc. With the right settings though some movies just look jaw dropping. Cant wait to test out Batman VS Superman on Tuesday

You need to redeem Sony UV codes in the SOny Ultra app or the Sony Movies site to get the UV UHD rights. And then you can stream them in UHD HDR from the Sony Ultra app. Of course the Sony Ultra app is only on Sony TVs right now. So you have to redeem it on their website to get the UV UHD rights if you don't have a SOny TV with the Ultra app.

Of course they are. All the Sony UHD BDs have a UV code that redeem for the streaming UHD HDR version. At least if the UHD BD was purchased in the US. Canadian UHD BDs won't redeem on the SOny Ultra site in the US. Although the K8500 doesn't have the Sony Ultra app the stream those Sony titles in UHD HDR. You need a SOny TV with the Ultra app for that.

Hmm, come across my first issue and I'm not sure if it's the player or my set up.
I've just noticed that the BBC iplayer is on the player and played it for the first time, during playback the screen would go black for a second then the image would come back. Now I thought it was the iplayer. I exited it and sat on the player menu screen and it went black again. Turned everything off and back on, started up a bluray, and everything worked for about 10 mins then the screen went black again this time I noticed the display on my reliever blink on and off in time with the screen going black. My player is run straight to the TV with the second HDMI going to the receiver for audio. Really not sure what's at fault here. Since typing this I haven't noticed it go black again. |
