Very true. But setting resolution on 1080 will disble 4K upscaling so you get the unaltered 1080p onto your display. A lot of noise is gone ever since I set player on 1080 for my HD blurays.
Since I have HDR I switch to either Auto or 2160 for my UHD discs and no difference with either one

Right, I think that's what I said

I would rather just use my Sony 2K BD player for 2K BDs than have to constantly remember to switch the output resolution back and forth on my K8500. It's much, much easier to just leave it on one output resolution.

I watch 1080 90% of the time so I keep player always on 1080 and only switch to 2160 for the occasional uhd movie night. No hassle at all

By the way, what is the difference between setting color space in RGB or in 4:4:4 when playing regular HD blurays?

^^ I might be wrong, but I see an improvement in 4:4:4, esp. in banding !

I got the 65HU9000

From what I understand, ALL video stored on modern discs, be it DVD or Blu-ray, are stored as YCbCr. If you mismatch and play back with RGB settings, you'll clip off the black and white levels and black will look "dark gray". Additionally, you won't be able to view the Blacker-than-Black images found on most video test discs

Yes with me it's just the opposite. 95% of playback is from UHD BDs. While 5% of playback is from BDs.

Wow that's unusual as there is so much more 1080 content available on bluray than 2160...To think of it most of my UHD viewing is on streaming channels

I've only watched 4 UHD's and preferred the bluray version of the original Ghostbusters. Maybe it's cause I don't have HDR but the diff is subtle to me.

The blurays have looked excellent tho, definitely the best they have looked. I don't think I would bother with 4k for older titles after buying Ghostbusters I/II and ID4 in UHD(altho I could tell a diff with ID4). I'll buy The Thing, American Wherewolf in London and Highlander in bluray in Sept.

Will def get the new Star Wars in 4k tho when it releases, but aside from Sicario that I bought in UHD, there aren't any newer titles I want to own

I bought my Sony Xmas 2014 and there was zero talk of HDR, 3 months later that's all people were talking about, bad timing on my part. I will stick with mine for now tho very happy with TV, and maybe a few years down the road everything will be sorted with 4k format and more content.

Don't you mean 2015? I bought my Sony 4K HD TV in September of 2015 and there was no talk of HDR even then. It didn't come in until this year, 2016.
