Yeah, I bought my UHDTV in January of 2015, and there were rumblings of HDR, but there were only a few TVs that had it and all of them were $2500 and up.

Isn't that a standard HD signal? Maybe enable the 24p setting on player or TV??

What's the difference with 24fps on or off? The bluray will still run at its own original frame rate, correct?

I don't know, but I would think whatever signal your TV info reads is what your getting, should be 1080/24p for blurays not 1080/60.

Exactly why I pointed out that the signal received is 1080@60Hz and not 1080@24p...Does it even make any difference in practical terms?

They film actually has only 24 fps, but most players just upscale it to 60fps as that is what most tv are set to display. Odds are you have been watching 60 fps all of your life, and didn't know even it.

So I hear that several places have this player at $329 and Costco has it at $299. Is that the official price now?

But I think you are confusing 60Hz for 60fps

1080/60 is what you woulkd usually get when streaming on certain streaming devices like Roku and perhaps Apple TV.
I am getting 1080/60 on my bluray discs, and probably due to the fact that I have 24p set off on my Samsung...which wouldn't bother me unless it does affect motion negatively or creates unwanted motion artifacts

It does affect motion for movies and TV shows shot at 24 fps and encoded as such on Blu-ray. I would turn it on or put it on Auto in the player.

Thank you. I thought it was the other way around and that setting 24p on the player would add unwanted processing to the frame rate!

Hz is "refresh rate" whereas fps is the frames played per second

New lower pricing:

Costco $299.99 includes the HDMI cable.
Best Buy $319.99 no cable.

Thats about 25% off the starting price of $399.

Thank You I just bought this two weeks ago from Best Buy. I will go up there so I can get the price difference I paid like 379.99 at the time.

Are you sure that 60 number isn't fps? My tv shows 1080i for HD and 1080/24p for bluray but never Hz

Frames per second - How many frames are being shown on the screen in a given second. Or how fast each individual frame updates, this is usually talked about as determined from the video source.

Hz - How many times the screen itself can literally redraw the screen in a second.

Its basically the same thing.

Excellent. Probably due to the Xbox One S coming out. Cheaper priced UHD players will get it in more homes which will then lead to additional titles hitting the format.

It strikes! No HD decoder bitstream.

Good price for the Xbox One S coming out on Aug.
