What is the UHD pack?

Don't you have an SDR display? Curious your thoughts on PQ compared to bluray.

I was in Best Buy the other day picking up some audio gear and finally saw an HDR display, now I want one

Yeah, the docs are great. Look fantastic. The movies are good, but can be hit or miss. G.I Joe and Forrest Gump are not great. Life of Pi and The Counselor were quite good looking.

The Samsung UHD pack is an external hard drive that was sold for $300 a few years ago before 4K was streaming from Netflix and UHD Blu-ray was a thing.

It only worked on Samsung UHDTVs and its now going for around $80 shipped on eBay. Fortunately, it also works on the Samsung UHD player, allowing you to watch it on any UHDTV.

Yes, I do have a SDR UHDTV, it's a 2014 55" Vizio P series. UHDs look amazing on here. 4K Netflix and Blu-rays look pretty good, but the UHD pack and UHD Blu-rays look amazing on it. While HDR does look nice, it isn't required to see the vast improvement of UHDs.

Yeah, I was wanting to see a few of the shots from Life of Pi. I don't really like the film, but it had a few great visual effects shots. I will check out the Star Trek films as well.

No clue. You should just get the pack, as it really has a lot of bang for your buck.

Has there been any indication on a possible update to allow VUDU to stream 4K titles? I have a few now and would like to check them out for curiosity's sake.

VuDu has several titles in UHD and also in Dolby Vision.I just think that for the price I would rather just get the 4K bluray discs.

I guess I should elaborate. The VUDU UHD titles come from my digital copies of 4K discs that I've bought. I've been wanting to experiment with them but the VUDU app doesn't play UHD digital copies as of yet.

Yes it does, but the only way to play those is by PURCHASING them. No Digital Copies, even those that you redeem from 4K discs, will be in UHD format, unless you directly buy them from the available UHD VuDu list

There's a VUDU thread here that talks about it (seems more like arguing) but doesn't seem like it will be available anytime soon. May or may not be a Dolby Vision thing (who knows).

https://forum.vudu.com/showthread.ph...es-List/page20

ROKU 4 VUDU app does support UHD as an alternative.

I think 2016 LG Oled TVs also support UHD on VuDu. I just think VuDu prices for UHD titles are not worth it...Basically same prices as the 4K discs

Without a doubt, ridiculously high. Same for 3D on VUDU, which are actually sometimes double the price of a disc. At least with UHD you can "acquire" a UV redemption code to watch them on VUDU.

Why would anybody want to pay the same as the disc? Now you get slightly lower PQ due to compression, and your watching experience is constantly dependent on High Speed Internet service and VuDu streaming

??? I have nine Vudu UHD titles that I can stream in UHD. I didn't purchase any of them from Vudu. They are all from my UV codes that came with the UHD BD titles. Although right now only my Roku 4 allows me to stream them in UHD from the Vudu app.

Thank you.I honestly thought that UHD were avaialble only for sale and not through UV Codes of any kind.
Is Roku 4 the only device taht allows to stream VuDu in UHD? I thought the new Vizio and Oled TV apps also had the UHD firmware

As much as I agree with you, there is something to say for not having to buy a $300 player to watch UHD content and your whole Library is at your fingertips.
