I keep mine off all the time, so you guys still watch DVD's?
I'm watching Star Wars prequel trilogy this weekend, The Phantom Menace is a pretty good movie I know people like to rip on it but it's well done IMO. Looked great with the new player too! New sound system sounded great as well, I was able to play the original DTS soundtrack and switch to DSU mode to use the height channels. I thought the DSU would only work on Dolby Digital soundtracks?? |

I had it on originally and my TV info screen would show 12 bit color but I couldn't tell any diff in picture and read keep it off so that's what I did. My display is 8 bit SDR

Mine also reads 12 bit now with Deep color on...Isn't 12 bit greater than 8 bit? Something tells me to keep it on

My rule of thumb- if I don't understand what the setting does go with the consensus here, there are some seriously knowledgeable folks here

On your sound system when you play DTS soundtracks do you still get DSU?

I have not gotten the DTS:X firmware update yet, did you get DSU option while playing DTS content before the firmware update?

I got the Dolby upmixing option on a DTS soundtrack, I thought you only got the Dolby upmixing on Dolby soundtracks, and DTS upmixing on DTS tracks(if you have DTS:X and Atmos)

Quick question - how well does this handle usb media files? (MKV, x264/5, xvid, etc) right now I have a sony 5200 that pretty much plays everything, so just want to compare. This player seems way better then the Phillips and Xbox player wise, but that would be the final thing for me.

Yeah sounded pretty good on Revenge of the Sith, just didn't realize the Dolby upmixing worked on DTS tracks.

The latter does make sense to me, but I've been listening to review sites and keeping it off. Any professionals here that can add on? |
