If I set the black level to "high" on my TV (55EG9100 OLED), the details aren't crushed and match the standard BD. Not ideal but considering I have less than 10 UHD movies, I can deal with it.
I tried that too. All you are doing is raising black, the majority of details are still gone, and now you lost 100% black

Check post #3873....When you use the Samsung player with a 4K movie connected to a non-4K TV/projetcor you are literally losing 1/3 of the picture!

No, it looks like it should. The details do come back and black is still black even on OLED.

Did you change RGB at 5IRE or raised brightness by a few clicks? From what you posted you only changed black level from low to high

Me and you have LG Oled, what about those with HD 1080 TV without a balck level feature, who want to use Samsung UHD + UHD discs on their television?

My 2010 plasma has the setting as well. It should be an easy fix for Samsung through if we can submit a bug report.

I dont think Samsung TVs come with a high/low black level function unless Samsung calls it by another name

Regular bluray still looks better on a non-4K display than the 4K disc downconverted.

By the way, any of you uses CEC? I have it disabled, it is a nightmare to have it switched on!

Here's the one I have:

I also asked the mods to add this on the first post to make it alittle easier to find.

Couldn't have Samsung just put that same remote in the box with the UHD player? So much more pratcical and easy to use!

Any modern universal remote will work. I'd just find one that meets your needs.

Cec is great. Use it on all my devices. Easy way of getting all devices to turn on

Or to get devices to turn on even when you don't want them to
