I hate it for that reason. Although I have it off on both my Sammy ks8000 and Sammy UHD player, the tv source still flips over to the player when I turn it on just to eject a disc or something. Annoys the shit outta me!!!

In order to avoid all that you need to turn CEC off on both the TV and player, and also turn HDMI Control off on your receiver if you have everything connected to AVR.

I have the CEC turned off on player but HDMI control ON for TV, receiver and sat. box, everything turns on/off together, except the player of course.

Hoping to get better rewind/FF function with universal remote but also volume control on receiver, could not get Samsung remote to work the receiver volume.

If I keep HDMI Control on in my Denon receiver, every time I turn TV/receiver on the player turns on as well, even when I am not planning on using it.

Has anyone tried out any Universal remotes on this player? I'm finding the original remote rather annoying in size. I have big hands and when using the arrow buttons I tend to his OK at the same time.

I don't own a UBD-K8500 anymore but I used to use my One for All URC 7980 Universal remote with it, worked just fine.

Or you can pick up a larger Panny remote to use with it. I picked up one in the Spring for only $8. It has much larger buttons, dedicated skip and Rew/FF buttons, and a numerical keypad.
I picked it up from eBay. I see the price now is under$7.50. The seller has sold over 1K of them. Probably to many K8500 owners. Since when I got it in the Spring the sales numbers were increasing like crazy.

Been using a harmony elite for a few months. Works great.

I just asked the same question on the previous page and Bodyslide posted the same ebay link so I picked one up myself.

Thanks...it must be the HDMI control on my Dennon then. I'll just have to turn it on for arc audio when using tv aps.

Incorrect. First enable ARC on your Denon, then turn HDMI control off with ARC enabled

At least on my model, there is no "arc enabling". It's just turn it on in the tv settings, and have HDMI control on in the Dennon. That's it.

And actually in my instance I've got video from the player going straight to my tv, so turning HDMI control off on the receiver doesn't solve the issue. I keep Cec off on both the player and tv so I dunno what's up with that.

Yes you do: go to main menu/video/HDMI setup. When in HDMI setup, scroll down to HDMI control and turn it on,scroll down further and turn ARC on. Now that ARC is on, go back up to HDMI control and turn it off

Can someone tell me if the dual HDMI outputs allow simultaneous playback of Audio and Video? I have a Marantz AV8801 that doesn't do 4K so I want connect video through to the TV directly and then audio through the Marantz via the 2nd output, is that possible?

The HDMI 1 port can carry video and audio, the HDMI 2 port can deliver audio only.

To answer your question-yes! That is what they are there for and its a great design. I'm running video straight to tv and audio straight to receiver. Saved me a few hundred on not buying a new receiver.
