Has anyone noticed their player to be somewhat noisy? In the past, I have noticed mine to be a bit noisy when it first starts up a disc, but it usually remained quiet during movies. Last night, I was watching a movie, and I noticed that it was making a lot of noise -- almost to the point that it was distracting.

When playing a video and you arrow down to below the time/progress bar on the left you will see a more options button, click that then you want to go all the way to the right to a icon that looks like a lady bug, click that and it will pop up a info tab with the resolution. I viewed some videos and the resolution does change but a lot of time it went to 2560 X 1400 or something like that, but the 4K would read 3840 x 2160. If you give it time the video resolution should go up. Here is an older video of what the video info looks like. They changed how to turn it off and on Last edited by moparbob; 11-26-2016 at 07:56 PM. |

I'm sure I've seen this question aked but cannot remember the answer. Does the Sammy have any way of checking stats of what's being played back?
Also can anyone who uses hdmi 2 for audio advise if Cec works on that port? I have Cec enabled and it's activates on hdmi 1 but does not turn on my amp or switch to the correct channel. I have to do it manually. |

Just picked up mines today. What picture settings are recommended? Should I leave it on auto, or 2160? Picture is unreal btw. Watched a few minutes of XMen Apocalypse and was really impressed.
Edit: more questions. Should BD Wise be on if I have a Samsung TV? And should I set it to RGB enhanced? HDMI deep color set to auto? Last edited by Dirk504; 11-27-2016 at 01:21 PM. |

I've tried out several Xbox One S systems over the course of the last few months and I have run into several discs skipping or macroblocking here and there. With Black Friday, this player has been on sale everywhere so I picked one up on Friday night. I've run a few discs on it so far and it seems to be solid. My 4K set is not HDR capable, so what would be the best settings to use for this particular player? I have the Sony 65X850B.
So far I am impressed with this over the X1S as a dedicated BD player. I wonder if a lot of the issues with the X1S had to do with FW. |

Deep Color is a hold over from the older Blu-ray format. It doesn't do anything now in the UHD Blu-ray age except screw up the conversion of signals that shouldn't be happening in the first place. It can cause banding and other anomalies since native 10 bit signals are upconverted to 12 bit and then downconverted back to 10 bit in the display.

What about the color format setting? I have the same display as CaptZombie and use Auto, I thought 4:4:4 was for HDR material?

You can use Auto on that setting if you want, but it will normally default to 4:4:4 chroma upconversion. It has to do with the available output settings for the HDMI protocol.

The player at Costco comes with a short HDMI cable in the box (that may or may not reach in your situation), but if you get it anywhere else it doesn't (most players don't come with HDMI cables included because the manufacturers have no idea what length you actually need). However, you can go to Monoprice.com and snag a cheap Premium Certified 18 Gbps HDMI cable that suits your installation needs. http://www.monoprice.com/StaticConte...rpath=/product The cables are actually so inexpensive, there is no reason to fret over whether one comes in the box or not. ![]() Last edited by FilmFreakosaurus; 11-29-2016 at 07:13 PM. |
