Since the Auto option selects native 3D signal just use that, but I def prefer 1080p for blurays on my setup
I dont see what the downside of using Auto all the time could be. 3D looks great, I just feel that the Sony offers a more reference picture, but not extremely superior either. I can live with that as long as the Sammy works for UHD HDR

If you have a Samsung TV with that same feature, the two devices handshake and can take over and Jack up your settings.

I don't think my TV has that feature. Even if it did, I'm not sure if I would use it. I'll have to find out if my TV has it.

If it does, turn BD Wise off in both units.

I wonder when this player will get another update (not one I have to download onto a zip drive).

Still hoping someone has an answer to this.

I'm getting a/v sync issues through any media server.

My Onkyo 605 only allows me to set a delay up to 100ms, and it's not enough. I need about 120ms-130ms. Changing the audio delay on the Samsung's settings has absolutely no effect at all.

Everything else is synced fine. Blu-rays, UHD discs, netflix, youtube, etc.

It's ONLY media server files. I have a wired fiber connection.

Audio sync is my only gripe with this player and it royally pisses me off! It's mainly just for Netflix for me though.

How do you knwo that the culprit is not your streaming provider (netflix)?

Hey guys,

Trying to decide between the Sony x800 and this player. I am ready to jump into 4K HDR but I still watch and own a lot of 3D discs. I wanted the sony but I've been unable to find it and the Samsung is always there at best buy.

I am currently using the Samsung 65 inch JU7500.

I don't have an Atmos/Dts-X reciever yet but would like this player to work for that set up in the future.

Anyone have any suggestions? Is there a big benefit to waiting to find the Sony player or should I just go with the Samsung. I also looked at the Xbox one S, but I need 2 hdmi outputs for my set up.

I'd recommend reading the Sony player's thread; there are a lot of comparison comments over there. I have this Samsung but will get another next year and that's one my top contenders thanks to a lot of the discussion in that thread.

Ok thanks! They seem to think the Sony is the best player at this price!

I bought today a 50'' Quantum Dot Display Samsung T.V. set with HDR, I know it's not a top of the line set, it only gets to 600 nits but as I ALWAYS watch T.V. on a fully dark room I must say picture quality coupled with the Samsung UBD K8500 which I've had for a year but connected to a 40'' SDR 4K Philips set.
I've always liked this Samsung player, non of the issues experienced by othe forum members, but now I have coupled it with an HDR set I like it even more.

I tried to upload some Dolby Atmos demos on USB but the player will only play video with no audio. When I try to play the same demo from the same USB stick on my Sony BD6500 it plays both video and audio in all of its magnificent Dolby Atmos sound

Did you try changing the Digital Output to PCM? It may not be the ideal setting, but I had to do that with some other USB content I tried to watch. Might be worth a try just to see if the sound then comes through.

But if I do that, won't I lose the Atmos track?

My Sony DB6500 player is also set to 'bitstream' and Atmos the the demo on USB played and sounded just fine. Maybe this Samsung does not support this media format? The video itself plays fine, but there is no audio at all

You are likely right. I know I had all sorts of issues trying to get some USB files to play with audio. Changing to PCM was my only option, but none of them were Atmos tracks.

K8500 won't do HD sound from USB to discourage piracy.
