Best Buy is selling refurb K8500's for $129.99 on their site and through eBay.
I placed an order last night to finish off my "open box discount" Samsung system: $665 - UN55JU7100 (Fry's) $201 - HT-J5500W (Amazon Warehouse) $130 - UBD-K8500 (eBay/Best Buy) Good to know this thread is here for settings related questions. |

I paid $190 for my player about a month ago. The player was brand new, and I got it from Amazon, so check with them to see what the price is now.

I paid 450 € back in April 2016 but it was the only UHD BD player available then. I'm quite happy with it, never had the issues many people say about it like handshake problems. It's not the latest in aesthetics and build quality but for me it has performed well for over a year and has always been very relliable.
I've bought a 50'' Samsung 4K HDR set two weeks ago and they seem like the perfect match of value and performance. |

I find it very amusing that it will play my VCD discs, but my samung bluray home cinema, would not (as most of their bluray models wouldnt).
Why I would want to watch VCD on my UHD (my VCD copy of star wars episode 1), is another question |

So I know this is the Samsung thread but I am deciding between three players This Samsung, The Sony 4k or the cheaper Phillips 4k player these are all within my budget. I was wondering which of these players you guys and girls here would recommend and have had the least issues with and also which offers the best PQ.I cant seem to find many reviews on these players. Sorry for the probably stupid question I am a noob to the 4K world

The last firmware (1010) really improved this player. Before, I had to use Dynamic mode to make the player look like the default/standard mode on other 4K players that I've tested. After 1010, I can use Standard mode on this player without any issues, and it looks no different than the standard mode on other players.
The only real complaint is the shitty remote, but I've gotten used to it. |
