Depends on content, right now it's not but if Disney starts doing DV then hells yeah I would def want support if I was buying a new TV
Good review but is it fair comparing an HDR10 disc to DV streaming content? I don't know maybe it is just asking |

so, I've had this player for half a year or so..... and I just cannot get a satisfying picture for 1080p blu rays....
4k discs look great, but my regular blu rays seem to have an uptick in grain that's not apparent at all on my secondary Sony blu ray player. I've tried playing with the settings a million times and cannot get anywhere. The player is set to "auto" for resolution. I was watching BATES MOTEL Last night, the brightly lit scenes look spectacular, but any scene with lower to dark lighting has a "noisy" look on people's faces close-up. It's like a mixture of grain and color that's up too high which creates a look of bleeding color grain.. does this make sense to anyone? My color on my Samsung 8000 TV is set to 50, and to "native"... Any input would be greatly appreciated. I plan to buy a higher end 4k player when there's more options available (hate the remote of this player) but for the meantime I'd sure like to play the vast majority of my collection on this player.... |

It never will because Samsung doesn't support Dolby Vision and their players and TVs don't have the processing power.

I see the same thing when I play blurays in auto or 2160p resolution so I use 1080p myself. |

thanks guys, all the work and attempts to get results and I just need to remember to ask in this site!
![]() I haven't switched color to "auto" yet as I'm now back at work and reading these posts but.... I switched to 1080p (and I don't have HDR on for non-4k discs ever) and I am blown away at the difference!! The picture is clean, without noise, full of vibrant color and quite frankly the PQ looks damn near close to my 4k discs ![]() ![]() I watched a cheesy shark flick called BAIT with my son last night and it reminded me of the "pop" that my 4k blu ray of THE SHALLOWS has! I still need to test some other blus of course but this really seems to be the answer so far... I think my long term plans will be to eventually get a higher end 4k player and then use the Samsung as my back up player permanently set to 1080 resolution. thanks again everyone! |
