True about DV, but I have a js9500 set so just HDR10 for me at the moment, but it would be something to consider down the line. It would be cool if the panny ub700/ub400 would hit the states as it looks to have the same PQ as the upper end models. |

The Oppo has been super stable for me and the company continues to refine the firmware and it will soon be getting HLG HDR (and possibly HDR10+). The Panny is no longer what it once was since that comparison video was posted. |

Had a weird experience today. Turned my player on and put in a BD, and on the home screen, BD trailers, menu and then the opening logos of the movie, the contrast/saturation was dialed WAY the hell up. Everything looked almost like the Predators' vision. Checked all my settings, thought I might have accidentally turned Dynamic Contrast on the TV or that I selected Dynamic in the BD player tools, but everything was normal. Took the BD out, turned the player off, let it sit for a few seconds, then turned it back on and everything looked normal again. It was like it never happened. Has anyone else experienced anything like this? Is it a player or TV or cable thing that I should be wary of happening again?

Interesting. Thanks for the updated information, appreciate it. Wondering if I should sell my 103d and this samsung towards a oppo 203, if it's worth it, PQ wise....

I'm saying the Oppo got better. Panasonic really can't do much more with those older players as they don't have the chips and the horsepower to do so. Oppo is staying on top of things and improving upon it all the time. Dolby Vision and future big updates are the cherry on top. I, for one, am glad they chose not to include streaming apps as they would be spending all their time trying to keep the apps from crashing or staying relevant rather than focusing on disc playback. |

I just picked up a used k8500 on craigslist for $80. I tested out some blu rays, uhd blurays, and hevc files from a usb drive and everything seemed to work fine.
My question is, the player has a separate option for video settings. Do i have to set that up too, or is there a way for the player to use the settings on my tv? Thanks. |

My review of the LG UHD player are here:
https://forum.blu-ray.com/showthread...286113&page=31 Only thing I regret is having sold my Samsung for dirt cheap in trying to sell it quick. This is still a great player for its price and I highly recommend it if your TV is not Dolby Vision capable |

So.. I'm sure this has been asked before, but I can't find it and there's too many pages.
But does this UBD player work on a standard 1080p tv? I want to replace my current player with this one (need dual HDMI) so that I can get Blade Runner in 4k to take advantage of the Atmos. I don't care about the UHD/HDR/4K specifically as long as it looks good. It's the sound I'm more interested in experiencing. Will it be compatible with my Sammy Plammy in the correct fashion? |

Hi! Newbie here! I can't get my UHD 4k Blu Rays to play on the preferred HDMI Port (4K @ 60hz), they play fine on my other ports (4K @ 30Hz), but would to see them at full resolution.
SPECS TV: VIZIO D-Series 50" Class Ultra HD D50u-D1 UHD Blu Ray Player: Samsung Electronics UBD-K8500 HDMI Cable: HDMI Cable 10 FT (4K UHD HDMI 2.0 Ready) - Braided Cord - Ultra High Speed 18Gbps - Gold Plated Connectors - Ethernet & Audio Return - Video 4K 2160p HD 1080p 3D I plug my Blu Ray player into the HDMI 5 Slot (4k @ 60Hz) on my TV and power up. The 4k UHD Blu Ray menu comes up. My settings on my Blu Ray player are set to auto detect everything. (Deep Color is OFF) I press play and my TV screen goes BLACK, then I get the "No Signal" - My UHD 4K Disks play fine on my other ports (4k @ 30hz). I just bought that HDMI cable yesterday. Thinking it's the latest and greatest, but not so sure now. Any help would be greatly appreciated! |
